Yes it’s been absolutely awesome. We’ve had a great time. Duval is absolutely PACKED tonight. However it does seem to be only a matter of time before things close down again here. But if it’s open when you want to come I highly recommend.

No problem! I’m on a flight back to SC now, but it was a great time. Didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. Beaches were open, pools, etc. all open. Same with most restaurants. Just bring the mask and wear it when they ask and all is well.

Have fun!

I'm sitting by the water at the Waldorf sipping on some fruity drink and having a ball. We just got here an hour ago and my wife immediately went to sleep. Weddings are exhausting, especially when it's your own. Cheers.

I saw the city had passed a new mask ordinance basically requiring it at all times. Even when you’re walking down the street, or swimming in a pool.

Quick follow up.

We are packing up to leave the Keys now. We booked a six day trip and are leaving after only the second day.

The weather hasn’t been cooperative and has no signs of improving. This certainly weighs in our decision making. Much of the area is dealing with light flooding.

Biggest factor, many of the businesses here are closed due to Coronavirus. This is much more noticeable in Marathon/Islamadora. Of the six restaurants at the resort and we’re staying at, only three are open and even they are open only odd hours. Many of the parks are closed. Tourist attractions are packed and some require reservations in order to meet Covid occupancy guidelines.

Bars and nightlife are pretty much non-existent minus Key West who closes down quite early too. I’m gathering this is somewhat new. Still lots of people out after the sun sets In KW though.

Bottom line, it doesn’t feel much like a vacation. When simply finding a meal seems like a chore it’s time to go home. We’ll try it again another time.

Sorry to hear that. We are in KW now and while things are a little different it is still very enjoyable.

We are here, weather sucked yesterday and it’s pouring now. We weren’t at the beach long but nobody had a mask on. In two days of walking around I had one cop ask me to put mine on at the southernmost point. They will say something if you go into a store but overall it’s not terrible. Haven’t had any issues with things not being open. Far, far from my best Keys trip but not terrible. Weather is the main issue. As long as we get to go in the boat fishing tomorrow it will be a success

Was at KW today. It’s fairing far better than the upper Keys. Still not a good situation. Many businesses closed and apparently more restrictions to come. The Restaurant we visited for lunch disclosed that beginning next week they’ll be forced to close by 8PM.

Yea the weather hasn’t been ideal, but honestly I’m enjoying this visit almost as much as any other. One nice thing about COVID I suppose is that this is by far the least crowded I’ll ever see Key West. It’s actually more relaxing in a lot of ways

Got back Saturday night. We stayed at Casa Marina the first 3 nights, then moved to a BnB called Andrews Inn right off Duval.

We had a wonderful week. Loved the resort, but the BnB was a much more fun experience. Resort was nice, but cramped rooms and no real atmosphere, if that makes sense. Kind of just there. Staff was nice and fairly accommodating (more on that later) but the 15 dollar drinks got old after a day, so we went and bought our own at the liquor store. We enjoyed the adults only pool, and had fun skinny dipping in the atlantic at night. Resort seemed about half full. Most guests were friendly other than our neighbors getting in a knock down drag out fight with each other in the middle of the night. Pretty sure one of them threw a lamp at the other. I have the audio on my phone to prove it. probably the first time i've ever called security on a vacation.

Andrews Inn was fantastic. Only 6 rooms, with a pool in the middle. Breakfast by the pool every morning, happy hour at 4:30 for free as well. Owners were there morning and afternoon to help out, give recommendations, or just to chat by the pool. Absolutely would recommend to anyone that wants to experience the authentic Key West. The other guests were great, and ended up going out with 2 diff couples at night.

We went on Danger Charters for a full day excursion on Tuesday. Had a great time. Snorkling, swimming, kayak through the glades (think it was man kay) plenty of cold beer/wine and a nice lunch were provided, all for about 100/person. Would highly recommend Danger charters over the other folks. They're local and the crew was outstanding. We ended up hanging out with our captain another night, dinner/drinks/etc.

We rented a center console fishing boat from Spencer's Marina one day and that was our favorite thing we did. Took it out to Boca Grande Cay and had an absolute blast. Just us two, a cooler of booze and plenty of food. Got to outrun a storm in the morning then relax all afternoon.

Night life stunk. Everything shut down by 11ish, which is fine for most but we like to hang out later. Most of the patio-type restaurants stayed open that late, everything else was dead by 10. Only late night bar with great music we found was Schooner's Wharf, right off Harbor Walk. Captain Brian took us there, and it was definitely more of a local dive. Went there 3 times.

As far as the mask ordinance, cops were patrolling on bikes and in SUVs all week telling everyone to keep them on. Saw a few with bullhorns as well. This wasn't something you wanted to mess with as some locals knew of a 500 dollar fine they weren't afraid to hand out.

So many closed down businesses. Probably the worst part of the trip. The owners/managers of every single restaurant we went to made a point to come by our tables to make sure we felt welcome and everything was perfect. They were gracious for us being there and told us to come back asap. That island will dry up financially at this rate quickly.

Loved everything about the island, cannot wait to go back. I'll try to do a list of restaurants later.

Glad you found Schooner Wharf, that’s probably our favorite spot. And Danger Charters does a fantastic job.
