Wife (no pics) and I are planning a trip to Key West this September for our anniversary. Do you have any recommendations for attractions or restaurants while we're there?

Hotels we're looking at are pretty much in the middle of Key West on Duval street if that makes any difference. The place I've been eyeing is The Duval House if anyone has experience there? Staying at a super-nice place isn't important to me as I'd rather spend the money on fun experiences and good food. We're looking to avoid driving anywhere and just have everything in walking distance too.

Thanks in advance!

I like the Island City House hotel...it's a compound of historic structures around a courtyard where breakfast is served. Has a small/medium pool onsite. Variety of room amenity levels, including several with kitchenettes & porches w/swings or hammocks. It's a few blocks from the Duval chaos & noise, so you'll get a good night's sleep.

B.O.'s Fish Wagon for a grouper sandwich in an indoor/outdoor space built around a food truck. Chickens may wander in & out, but it's classic Key West. LINK

They have a lot of places like this. Look at the Simonton Court.

Eat at El Siboney.

Yeah we've stopped at Key West before for a cruise port day, so we know what to expect with chickens and cats wandering around. Won't bother us lol.

Having a pool would definitely be a plus, so we'll check it out. Thanks!

Orchid Key Inn is our go to stop to stay down there, right on Duval but back far enough so it's quiet. Great host, bartender and within walking distance of most attractions. Lattitudes at sunset is the go to spot for anniversary dinners it seems, we did our 20th there. The float plant to the Dry Tortugas is awesome, recommend it 100% more than the ferry ride over.

Anything in particular you recommend from there? We're not usually dessert people, but I'm willing to give it a try if it's that good. The only dessert I've planned on having so far is some key lime pie

No they are elegant and also have cocktails, the atmosphere is the star.

I stay at Southernmost because I don’t like the noise of Duval. We usually rent a buggy for the week to get around.

Stayed at Best Western Hibiscus.... cool pool in the middle with cabanas surround it... much cheaper than the alternatives around... and tile floors as well.

Enjoy.

Was in Key West in May this year.

A few pointers...

Consider renting bicycles, well worth it and KW is very bike friendly.

We stayed at Cyprus House Hotel, recommended!
Small pool, and very nice large modern rooms.

Eats...
Salute on Higgs Beach.
Any of the restaurants on the marina boardwalk.

Free stuff...
- Key West Cemetery for something a little different (we witnessed iguana's fighting chickens!)
- Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center to learn about the local marine life.

Avoided Duval street.

+1 on the cemetery. It's an interesting place....worth a quick side trip bike ride.

Some lodgings either offer complimentary bikes or inexpensive onsite rentals.

We rented a 2 person scooter. Very reasonable and plenty of parking. Take the jet ski tour around the keys. We also rented a jeep for the day and drove up 88 miles to Robbie's. Stopped at many of the sites on the way. Jeep cost me 99 for the entire day.

After doing some more looking that's probably where we're gonna be staying! I doubt kids will be a problem that time of year, but having an adults only facility is pretty appealing. Plus it's one of the only places that looks to have a halfway decent pool on-site

I second simonton court. Very cool vibe and the breakfast by the pool is free and pretty decent.

Our favorite meal was at Sarabeths
