In Colmar. Getting ready to take pic. Partners penned me between them, I felt his hand on my back pocket, grabbed my pocket and he had my wallet halfway out my pocket. I yelled “ pickpocket” they scampered off.

This made me think of that scene in Blazzing Saddles when Dom DeLuise is directing the musical number at the end.

Throw out your hands
Stick out your tush
Hands on your hips
Give em a push
You'll be surprised
You’re doing the French mistake!

Rule of thumb. Always get a slim wallet with a money clip you can keep in your front pocket when you travel.

Even better, make sure it is RFID.

Nice catch OP. Yeah I don’t wear a wallet at all in my rear pockets anywhere in Europe burn especially the big cities around tourist spots.

RFID Passport-sized wallet for me; passport, two credit cards, and cash in it and always in my front pocket.

I didn’t realize people still put their wallet in their back pocket.

Glad you caught the SOBs. I've found these frickers will target all your pockets in a crowded area.

I've ended up using a money belt or "travel wallet".

Lots of styles and colors.

The one I got fits nicely under a shirt and you can't see it. You get used to it and it's much better than having a bulky wallet sticking out.

I don’t carry a pocket wallet, but I do use a phone wallet and carry a daybag (aka purse) with a wide, fairly thick strap. Tumi makes a bunch of fairly unisex bags, so I favor those for travel bags so I can trade off with my spouse when I get tired of carrying it. It’s also good for small souvenirs, water, other basics for a long day out. Murse, daybag, whatever, it’s better than a back pocket wallet.

Front pocket wallet/clip thing LINK, and then take a paper napkin, wad it up and place it atop in the front pocket. Ideally your hands should be by your sides anyhow, but then they will first find trash in your pocket instead of the money.

I switch to a phone case w/ card slots when I travel. Works pretty well. We usually leave an extra CC in the room just in case something happened (so I wouldn't lose everything).

a guy tried to reach into my wifes purse in vienna in December. As he was opening it up he looked over and noticed me starring at him from point plank. He ran off so quickly it made me feel big and mighty lol. if it was over here I might have thrown him to the ground, but over there not sure who the police would believe.
