Yeah, I'd do Airbnb.
As far as places to eat, you won't be disappointed.
Hot chicken places (you'll get different recs depending on who you talk to), Five Points Pizza, Hugh Baby's, Mas Tacos Por Favor, Bartaco, Mile End Delicatessen for brunch, Soy Bistro, Folk, Nicky's Coal Fired, Bare Bones Butcher,etc.
I can give you more specific recs based on the of food/how much you want to spend.
