Going to be in Hot Springs for 7 days, mid June with children. What are some must dos?

I’ll tell you what NOT to do: Do NOT stay at the Arlington. Otherwise it’s a really interesting old town which has been untouched by time. Be sure to eat at Rolando’s.

Bathhouse Row is a good walk. Heart of the town's history. Great little breakfast place on the main drag called Phil's Restaurant. Largest hotcakes I have seen. Wife loved Jahna's, an Italian place. McClards BBQ was lauded by locals, but I didn't feel the love. It is worth a visit just to see the locals interact. There is an observation tower a short ways away - didn't go. If you take some empty gallon jugs you can take some Hot Springs water fresh from the springs. It actually has a bit of a bite when chilled.

7 days in Hot Springs is about 6 days too many and that is generous.

Try to work in a day trip to NWA and float the Buffalo River.

Eat at Rolando's and Deluca's. Check out the Mid-America Science Museum. Kids might enjoy Magic Springs, just don't go in expecting a huge amusement park. It's pretty small.

Spend a few days on a lake.

7 days? Way too many unless you plan on going out on Hamilton

Lake Ouachita is really nice. My grand folks live there and in June we usually catch a bunch of bream. I think the bass fishing is supposed to be good there, but my grandfather doesn't like bass fishing so we don't. Drive up Hickory Nut Mountain if you go over there. The Lake Ouachita Vista Trail(LOViT) is cool to mountain bike. Hopefully you have a car and can get out north and west of Hot Springs. There are some pretty cool hikes at the National Park behind Bath House Row.

I don't get the Rolando's love, I think it is meh. I do love Bubba's Catfish. Stick to the catfish there though, the shrimp are terrible.

I don't care much for McClards either but they have been there forever so you might as well try it out.

agree that's a long time in hot springs. plan some outdoor activities like renting a party barge or boat on lake ouchita, swim, fish, etc. there's some places for guided horseback rides in the area if your family enjoys that.

I will second this. Supposedly, they are about to begin a three section remodel that will take a while. I will still go have a drink at the bar but I will not stay there until it is completely rehabbed. It is in rough shape right now.

The Waters Hotel is a great updated hotel, for anyone interested. Great location and they did a really good job keeping the historic vibe but updating the rooms, etc.. We have stayed there twice in the last year and plan to go back soon.

Rolandos is good and the wife and I still love Porterhouse and Belle Arte. Both are probably overpriced but the food is OK. We just enjoy walking/eating in the historic downtown.

I'll second the mid america museum for the kids. We went there recently and our kids loved it. Enjoy walking around bath house row, and just take it easy. Rent a boat and go out on one of the lakes.

Yeah, you're going to have to go tooling around that whole area a lot more to make a worthwhile week long family trip out of this. Hot Springs might fill up about two days worth of enjoyment.

Maybe 3, maybe.

Look you have to get drunk in the Arlington bar and watch the show when the kids hit the dance floor, average age will be about 80.

Superior bathhouse brewery—usually some interesting beers on tap. Sit at the window facing the street for good people watching.

Best pizza is at Delucas

Climb the trail behind bathhouse row to the observation tower

We were there in June a couple years ago (dropping kids off at Ozark) and had a blast.
