Help with rental car in Europe
Posted by Mark Makers on 6/5/17 at 5:29 pm00
I'm struggling on reserving a rental car for our upcoming Croatia trip. We are 4 adults with luggage for 10 days, so I have a feeling we are going to need either
A) Two small cars
B) One van
I am the only one out of the 4 of us who can drive with a manual transmission, and finding a full size van there that is automatic seems almost impossible. Unless of course we booked a Luxury Van but that's about $3,000. It would be nice if there was an option to rent a car with a luggage carrier on the roof or something so we could get a smaller automatic and fit all 4 of us. Anyone have any advice here?

I have rented cars in Croatia many times, and I am renting a van this summer for eight of us with luggage. I booked about 5 months ago and it's about $800 for the week. This late you will pay a fortune to rent a van, if any are even still available to reserve. The standard cars in my experience are smaller than here, but should be large enough for four adults depending on model. I have fit easily in standard cars with my wife, three kids and each with luggage and assorted crap. Again, it depends on the car obviously. Good luck

I used AutoEurope to book my car.... That is all I can offer. Paid 400 for 15 days

Recently rented a Volvo SC90 from Europcar, seems like it would fit your needs, likely would have to find a different company though.

Found a Volkswagen Passat Wagon automatic from ActiveRent for $1,200. I think that's may be our best bet, we just waited too long to reserve this apparently.
