There's a guy on the travel board who probably has. He's out of steamboat.

But you're not skiing St. Mary's Glacier. Good luck to whoever is.

We watched people ski and snowboard on it in June a couple years back. Looked icy obviously. My kids hiked about a hundred feet up the actual glacier once we got passed the lake.

I expected him to have jeans on. What's the point? Skiing anything up
here before thanksgiving is dumb.

I was there a few weeks ago. Definitely people skiing and snowboarding down the snow/ice.

I have not ski'd on St. Mary's Glacier, yet. But my roommate went earlier in August to get some turns in. Said it was easy access, and easy skiing. Snow was cupped and runneled, but thats the name of the game. Should be a lot of info on the internet. I think at the bottom of the glacier it runs out into a tallus field (rocks), so be careful as you approach the end. Plan for an exit somewhere.

My summer ski spot has been Skyscraper Glacier (pics below) on Rollins Pass. 14 miles of rough road just outside Winter Park, but a short hiking approach and you get some real steep skiing. There are quite a few chutes and snow patches before the glacier that were still in play when I went. We ski'd the glacier, which does lead to some bushwhacking on the way out (see below). We ski'd another patch of snow near the trailhead for a second lap. We had a ton of spectators for that one.

I got more vertical drop than some east coast resorts.

Going on 13 months straight of skiing this month. I ski'd every weekend but one in June (parents were in town). Up until mid-July, the skiing was so good. Ski'd early August, gonna get my September turns soon. Then its ABasin skiing in October.

That's all up to you, man. Sliding down snow at anytime of the year is worth it to me. Not only that, I've had DEEP early November days my first year in mountains. Thanksgiving isn't the magical date for ski season to start.

I get so many people on the trail that seem pissed off that I'm skiing in the summer.

"Lotta hiking for not a lot of skiing."

I hate hiking. If I have the end goal of sliding down snow...any snow...be it sun cupped, rocky, dirty snow...I'll walk to slide down that snow. The rest of you are welcome to keep hiking and hiking back. I'm getting some ski turns in when I can.

I pinch myself most days. I really love it here. It's a great community on top of being a beautiful place to live. I don't see myself leaving for awhile.

It's got a different twist than a lot of ski towns. Glad to see people on TD appreciate it's charm.
