I’m looking at Skare, Norway after landing in Oslo. They have a really nice prison and their way of life seems interesting

Read the sticky thread. Pretty solid trip review in there.

So...you're planning to go to Norway to go to prison?

I suppose as far as prisons go Norway would have to be pretty high up if I had to go.

Have you considered just visiting Norway minus the prisons?

I really enjoyed Bergen. Oslo didn’t really wow me too much.

Flew into Bergen and climbed the Trölltunga. It was an amazing experience. Expensive place to visit but the fjords are amazing. Rent a car and go see as much as you can. Great beer and the people are super friendly.

The Trölltunga hike is a hard one by the way. It’s all day and I highly suggest staying in the village near by. Bergen is about a three hour drive and we made the mistake of climbing and driving back.

Bergen is incredible. Old Hanseatic city surrounded by mountains and fjords. Highly recommend the Skyskraperen restaurant, which is on top of one of the highest peaks and offers a panoramic view of the entire area. Plus, you can watch the idiot paragliders jumping off. There is a funicular that takes you up, or you can hike. LINK

Pretty hard to get into prison in Norway and some of the other Nordic countries. You can murder someone and you may get only house arrest. But if you really want to go all you have to do is find a way to cheat your taxes.

Also I would say Norway is a better place to be in prison. From what I understand Finnish inmates are only given outdated Playstation 3 consoles during their hotel-prison sentences.

Went 4 months ago on a cruise ship up the fjords. (down vote away) Outstanding. Stopped in Bergen which was nice. Saw Pulpit Rock, where Tom Cruise filmed last mission impossible. Friendly people.
