Give me some insight on what not to do and the things that are worth the time and money. Group of 15 going aging from 70 to 5.

We are going in July for the first time so I’m watching this thread.

So far I plan on a round of golf, rafting the pigeon river, and probably Dollywood one day.

I stayed there in November when I made the trip for the LSU v Tenn game in Knoxville. Really good breakfast place in pigeon forge called Sawyers and an awesome dinner place called old mill. Dixie stampede was a little pricey but was worth it for the dinner show. We did some shopping at The Christmas Place and my wife loved that. Gatlinburg was a lot of fun just walking up the strip and taking a ride on the Skylift up the mountain. Several good putt putt golf places. Amazing fudge. It was a cool trip.

If you're looking for a place to rent, holler at my boy Ted at Volunteer Cabin Rentals.

You have probably taken HGG's advice and searched this site for the post about Gatlinburg/PF. But this may not be mentioned on any of the post. There is an area outside of G'burg along Glade road, and others, where there are a lot of stores that sell crafts, folk art, etc. It is well publicized so you can find it easily.

There is one shop in particular that I like. I think he is a retired engineer and he designs and sells wooden nick nacks, for lack of a better description.

And right behind his shop is a nice little soup and sandwich place. We ate there once and as I recall it was good, but it has been a while. It is Timbers Log Cabin Restaurant. You can find their menu on line.

This is a picture of a little basket we bought at the wood workers shop. Just gives you an idea of the type of stuff he makes.

Spend a few hours going in or coming out at Smokey Mountain knife works in Sieverville, just off of I-75 on the way to/from GB/PF. 3 floors of knives of every size shape and color.

Go to Navitat in Bernardsville, North Carolina for some great zip lining. Biltmore Estate is a nice venue. Chimney Rock is good as well.

Went in April.
Moonshine tastings in Gatlinburg were a good time. The wine ones are ok, too.
Alpine coaster in Pigeon Forge was a lot of fun.
Zip lining in Pigeon Forge was exhilarating and was the favorite thing of the trip.

Don’t eat anywhere you can eat at home. The Local Goat was a darn good restaurant in Pigeon Forge. Sit in the bar area for a more relaxing time.
