Woah, I have to disagree whole heartedly. I love Fredericksburg and I’m pretty sure it’s the #2 most popular wine destination in the US (behind Napa).

I’ve been to quite a few wineries in various countries as well.

OP, just look up on Tripadvisor the top 10 and take your pick. I would probably avoid the Grape Creek one on main st however.

You want me to prove you wrong that Sonoma Valley (CA), Paso Robles (CA), Columbia Valley (WA), Walla Walla (WA), Willamette Valley (OR), etc are more popular wine regions than Fredericksburg, TX?

Ehh you know what, better yet keep your arse out then. It’s already getting crowded enough there.

Never heard of this before. If one was to pick a time to go, when would it be?

hondos is the relaxed family atmosphere with live music

bucs is where the locals go to party - by far the best time

also, under no circumstances DO NOT drive down main street after dark if you have had even a sip of alcohol

This summer i was out there a few times for the horse races and watch EVERY SINGLE CAR get pulled over late night on main st.

The Fredericksburg PD are some of the biggest dickheads in texas. they will pull you over and DUI your arse

There’s a 290 Wine Tours shuttle that picks you up and will take you to a ton of wineries. We enjoy grape creek but would say the wines at Hilmy are better. Shuttle does not go there though. FatAss is for you if you enjoy Boones Farm.

Eat at Vaudeville.

Check out Hondos.

Don't expect Napa, and it can be enjoyable. My in-laws have several B&Bs down there, so that is an easy, low cost weekend away for us.

Becker and 4.0 Cellars are decent. Down 290 in the same area as those two is Signor, which is small, but it has a great atmosphere.

The Wine Garage has awful wine, but they have a small car museum that they give you a guided tour of after the tasting; it was something different to break up the afternoon.
