Fort Worth
Posted by JohnDoe00 on 7/6/21 at 11:24 am00
Going over to Fort Worth from Dallas for the weekend for a staycation. Can Anyone recommend some spots to stop in at and possibly grab lunch? Girlfriend is thinking we will do Stock Yards Saturday during the day; grab lunch, then kill time before a nice dinner and drinks somewhere downtown close to the hotel. Will probably eat lunch on the way out Sunday too.

Lonesome Dove by the Stockyards is an excellent restaurant. Have a drink down the street at Billy Bob's.
in the stockyards, go to horseshoe hill cafe. Split the el Jefe and then go take a nap.
Where is your hotel? That may color some suggestions.
Good FW dinner options- Reatta, Grace, Clay Pigeon, Lonesome Dove, Bonnell's.
Other culinary options.
Enchilada's Ole - get at least one hatch chicken. best enchilada anywhere. not exaggerating.
Sushi - Hatsayuki Handrolls or Little Lilly. Both close to the Museums if you end up there. Shinjuku if you want to stay on Magnolia.
other good magnolia options - Cat City Grill, Poke Poke, Maggie's RnR, Heim, Benitos
Woodshed is good if you're in that area.
Freds or rodeo goat are good burgers in the 7th street area but I think dallas has a rodeo goat now.

We usually eat lunch at Charleston's when we go to FW.

Thank You
My sister lives right down the street from this place so we walk here all the time when I visit. Their nachos are great.
Rodeo Goat is overrated, their cheese fries(no surprise) are good but you can get better burgers elsewhere

This is the list you should work off of. Only thing I would add is Joe T Garcia's if you haven't been before.
Go to Esperanzas instead... same menu, same owners, less crowds

Same mediocre food?

I went there this past Saturday Night. Wasn't bad. Supreme Nachos are good. Enchiladas are average.
You can do better Mexican Food than Esperanzas/Joe T's in Fort Worth. Enchiladas Ole has already been mentioned which I think is better.

It's not the same menu. Same owners is correct. Much better food/menu, but still not the best in town by any stretch

Heim had the best food in Fort Worth when I visited.
There was also a Mexican restaurant in a shopping mall that was like walking into a portal to Mexico. Can’t remember the name of either, but it was incredible.

It's overpriced, you have to wait forever to get to the counter, and the owner Travis Heim is a far left liberal who hates conservative Americans
There are cheaper BBQ options that are just as good that don't require a wait or giving money to marxists

Is Joe T's still cash only? Haven't been in 20 years, but will be down in late August.

I thought it was fair priced. Maybe pricier due to its popularity but I had a lot of food.

Meh.

There are two Heim locations now. The original location on magnolia used to get very crowded but the second location and some other new BBQ openings have eased that.

Joe T’s has the ambiance but Ole is way better food. We really enjoy Thompson’s bar downtown also.

The last time I went a few years ago it was still cash only, don't know if that has changed since then though.

Pretty common in the restaurant industry.
