Flying out of MSY on Friday... what should we expect?

I figured with both the holidays and the terminal being new, things might be a little insane. How's the parking situation - should we pay for an off-site parking location? Also, how early should we be getting there? Our flight is at 1:00pm

I had to pick someone up from there last friday night and it was a fricking SHITSHOW.
I wonder if trying to pick someone up from Departures would be better.

Yikes, that's what I was worried about... We typically just get there 1 1/2 hours early, but I'll probably try to get there at least 3 early to account for all the extra chaos

I’ve flew through there twice already. Once was during thanksgiving, the other was this past Sunday. Didn’t park but drop off was a breeze. Security was quick, baggage claim was quick, pickup was quick. Logjam leaving both times at veteran

I flew out early on Monday and back in this afternoon. Honestly, it was great. I’ve avoided flying MSY last several weeks and opted for BTR. Both out and In was exceptionally easy, parking in (short term) garage was much better than the old garage. Absolutely beautiful facility now with a ton of dining/bar options.

We had a 925 flight this am and got there about 645 — took a little bit to park and we entered on the ground floor. Baggage check is on floor three and we saw no signs indicating that — I guess all 5 of us missed it.
We had precheck and it wasn’t a long line at all. We’ll see how coming home works out.

Flew in and out around Thanksgiving. Absolute breeze both times.

Flew out last Friday. Took maybe 15-20 to get thru security. Then some idiot lady put a bag full of junk thru the X-ray machine and it spilled over in the machine so they had to take all of our stuff and run thru another machine, so that added another 10 min. Other than that it went fine. Parked at park n ride or something like that with no issue. Coupon on their website to park for $5 a day.

I normally arrive about 20 minutes before boarding starts. I have never had a wait at all for security, not a single minute (I do have CLEAR).

To be clear, I was strictly talking about picking someone up from Arrivals, and it was on a friday night. It was just a bit chaotic there.

Going through is super smooth. Like one of the easiest airport security times ever. Getting picked up is another story lol

Flew out early last Thursday, was through security in less than 20 minutes.
Parked at US park to avoid the parking issues.
Returned noon on Sunday, baggage and pickup were a breeze.
Side note, the airport is really nice but already starting to show signs that it wont last. Dirty bathrooms, soap dispensers not working. Basically people do not know how to pickup after themselves.

Cleanliness was a huge issue at the old MSY. And the contracted workers that work the concessions. Like the PJs and Starbucks are slow as shite

I got back in town last Friday from a work trip, got off plane at 5:45, & didn't get home until 7:15. I live maybe 10 minutes away. I thought it would be fine after we got to Vets, but even that backed up until we got to Williams.
