Flying back from Europe- United

If I want to use my points to get back to New Orleans, what cities are the easiest/ most convenient?
What are the United hubs in Europe?
I don;t need a direct flight to New Orleans, but want a direct flight to the States. Is London/Munich the only options?

You should be able to transfer points to the United Partners right? That will open your options up.

You can get to IAH from MUC and FRA on Luftansa. You'll have more options into EWR or ORD though.

since you put United up there, I'm assuming you have United miles. United is in the Star Alliance, so any of the Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, Brussels)... so flying out of Germany, Austria, Switzerland or Belgium, you'd be able to fly on a non-United flight (yipee!) back to the US, probably to Newark, Chicago or perhaps DC, and then on to New Orleans via UA.
Or, from many other cities in Europe, you can fly back home using United, you'd just connect at one of the United hubs, like Newark, Chicago, Houston or perhaps Dulles.

You can clear US immigration and custom prior to departure if you fly out of Dublin.
That’s damn convenient. Standing in lines for an hour after a transatlantic flight is no fun.

This. Many many options with Lufthansa through Frankfurt.

I fly to Europe 3-4 times per year on United or other *A carriers. Most of the United hubs are easy to connect from to MSY. I excluded DEN and LAX since those are too far in my opinion to make a connection. Here is my ranking.
1. IAH - The most convenient is flying from FRA to IAH. Super easy and a ton of flights to MSY.
2. ORD - Connecting through ORD is not bad if you have Global Entry and a ton of UA and LH flights from Europe. Downside is only 3 (?) flights per day to MSY.
3. EWR - pain in the arse and long flight back to MSY.
4. IAD - worst UA airport to connect through

There are so, so many options. Star Alliance has the most partners to Europe of the three major alliances.
Besides United, your United miles can fly you on Star Alliance partners Air Canada, Lufthansa, SAS, Brussels, LOT, Austrian, TAP, and even Singapore offer routes between the US and Europe. Additionally, Aer Lingus is a non-alliance partner of United, and you can also use United miles to fly them.
That means you should start by searching to DUB, ZRH, BRU, FRA, MUC, LIS, CPH, and VIE. By the way, you don't have to fly direct to the states, as a flight through Toronto doesn't add any hassle or time to your itinerary. United's own search engine works fine.
Only after you've looked at the hub routes should you consider searching the more obscure routes, such as EWR-OPO or DFW-FRA.
If you want to see available routes, the Wikipedia page for each airport is a great resource, or you can also use www.flightsfrom.com.

United's European Star Alliance hub is Frankfurt and Munich.
