Interested in Island and Resort recs, as well as what you like about it, and what activities you like to do there? Bonus points for Hilton and Marriott properties (reward points).

TIA

I’ve only been to the Caribbean once so my knowledge is limited. But I enjoyed the Hard Rock in Dominican Republic. Affordable and hit on what we wanted. A bunch of single guys in our 30’s. The casino and sports book was nice bc it gave us something to do at night close by. Chicks were easy, drinks were ever flowing and the beach was excellent.

I’m sure others have much more knowledge but not a bad place to start. Assuming this is your first time like me.

Side note, we never left the resort and that’s the type of place we wanted. Can’t speak on the town or surrounding areas. Not sure the trip you looking for.

St. Kitts has an excellent Marriott property.

There have been many threads on the Caribbean. Do some homework and come back with specific questions.

Ritz in the Caymans is gonna be the best Marriott property in the Caribbean.

All the resorts in the Caribbean have the same stuff--beaches, sailing, paddle boarding, snorkeling, eating, drinking, etc. If you like a place online and the price is right, book it and go.

Also, look at the sticky thread for lots of reviews on different islands.

It isn't glitzy......but I am in love with Cozumel. I've visited around 40 + times....I know the island like the back of my hand....some of the best food ( if you know where to look) that you can ever have....the people are great....the diving is awesome. I dunno....it just fits me.

It all depends on what you like.
My favorite vacation spot is still Isla Mujeres.
Just got back from Cuba yesterday.

If you like diving Roatan is world-class.

Went last year. Diving is phenomenal. If you don't mind a bit more rustic, go to Utila. The diving there was just as good if not better and I didn't have to worry about as many tourists.

We talking all-inclusive here or are you interested in doing some sight seeing...

That is a big piece of the puzzle.

For getting out and doing things, Turks cant be beat. Love that place and enjoyed the entire island

For sitting on your arse, having a drink and relaxing? Iberostar Grand Bavaro in Dominican Republic or Secrets at Maroma Beach. Cant go wrong with either.

Just got back from Great Exuma in the Bahamas. It was spectacular. We had three couples, rented a house with a boat, went island hopping, sandbar hopping, etc. i will absolutely go back. There is a sandals resort but house is the way to go.

Settle down Nancy, had out of town guests in my house for the past 3 days.

Lanier, interested in a combo of activities and lounging. We did a Jamaica Sandals for our honeymoon and it was nice to have everything handled, but hate we didn’t get to eat more authentic local food. Scuba/snorkeling, beachfront, and would definitely want to do some fishing. Some friends suggested doing a multi-stop cruise to get a feel for several different islands/areas. Thanks everyone

Have you read the sticky threads? I’d start there then be more specific about islands.

I can give information on the following.

St. John
St. Croix
Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
St. Kitts
Nevis
Isla Mujeres
Roatan
Ambergris Caye
St. Barth’s
St. Maarten
Anguilla
The BVI - all of it
Cozumel
St. Thomas
Nassau

Been to but only day tripped to.

Barbados
St. Lucia
Antigua
Grand Cayman
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Freeport

I think that’s it.

Yeah I have. Narrowing things down this week. Will come back to this thread once I have the base of knowledge needed to ask non-googlable questions.
