Looking to drive somewhere from Dallas with the family the week after Christmas
Kids are 9 and 11. Looking at something within 6-7 hours.
Thinking Branson but afraid there isn’t enough to do in the winter. Plus it looks very white trash. Was thinking Ruidoso or NM but most of the stuff is closed there.
Already have done broken bow and Disney many times.

Why not look to TX? Camping in Big Bend, horseback riding in the hill country....
Or how about Santa Fe? That’s around 9 hrs tho.

Wife and I would love Big Bend but we aren’t the camping type and I’m afraid kids won’t have enough to do for a week there in the winter

Research the state parks in Texas and Oklahoma. They get overlooked but many have unique features and that is the reason they became state parks. Garner State Park is a good one in the hill country but idk what’s available in the winter.
There are a lot of things to do in St. Louis but that’s 9+ hours & the weather could be bad.

Thanks. We’ve done all that and wanted something different outside of Texas.

Easterly loop:
I-30 to Hot Springs Arkansas; then Memphis (Graceland, Beale Street, etc.); south through the Mississippi Delta, historic Vicksburg. Then back to Dallas via I-20.

I like this idea. Memphis is worth a day or two; the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel is interesting & well done.
