I realize it is a joke on the OT but has anyone been there? Leaving Monday for a week and was curious which of the restaurants are the best? Anything of note we should do? Thanks.

Can’t speak for punta Cana but we loved excellence playa mjueres. Can’t wait to get back there in a couple of years.

As far as best restaurant at playa, I really enjoyed the Indian restaurant with the French one being a close second. Not sure if the restaurant options are the same at both

Also, definitely splurge for the clubhouse thing (can’t remember exactly what they call it)

Loved the Madonna show they had when we were there. Hated the Michael Jackson show.

Absolutely loved it. Believe it or not, the best food may have been the breakfast buffet. There wasn’t really one restaurant that stood out above the rest. The food was good, nothing mind blowing but you eat a ton and I was pleased with everything.

We did a snorkeling excursion that wasn’t worth the money IMO. That deterred me from taking any more so hopefully other people had better experiences and can make recommendations.

The staff is fantastic. It’s not the most fun vacation I’ve taken, but it’s without a doubt the most relaxing one.

Why is it a joke? Search on this board and you’ll read plenty of reviews that describe how awesome it is

I just got back a few weeks ago and me and my wife had a great time. Staff is awesome and very friendly.

Our favorite restaurant was the lobster house. It was very good. The sports bar also has a very good hamburger for your really drunk days!

We did the Sanona island excursion and that was probably the highlight of our trip. It’s an all day deal but when you get to the island, the prepare an authentic Dominican buffet for the group. Pork, chicken, and mahi mahi fish is the main part then they have all of the sides and fruit you can eat. Was pretty awesome.

Even though the games are kind of cheesy at the resort, play them! If you win you get a bottle of rum!

You know you can get a bottle of rum anytime you want at the Excellence resorts, right?

Get some mamajuana while you're there! It's rum soaked in a bunch of aromatics and delicious. Very unique flavor.

Honeymooned there 6 years and wife and I loved it. Originally said we wanted to go back at 5 year anniversary but then of course life happens and that changed.

Loved the room service breakfast each morning.

My wife and I went last year

I want to say The Grill was the top place. I enjoyed the Lobster House, but that was really busy most nights.

We chose our "dinner night" at Chez Isabelle

Don't do the dolphin excursion. Takes forever to get there, takes forever to get back, and it really isn't all that. That's my biggest regret in going.

The Sammy Sosa drink is pretty damn awesome, too. I got that at the beach bars

One of the best AI resorts we have been to. Excellent service there. Opted not to go Excellence Club route and was not disappointed with the junior suite with private pool in building 10.

The Grille was ok, not that good really. Bland to say the least.

We did the snuba excursion, I enjoyed it.

Mamajuana assisted me on my way to being blackout drunk lol.

Just got back from Playa Mujeres. Very pleased with everything. Ate at the French, Spanish, Indian, Asian restaurants for dinner. They had a big Mexican themed night with food from the Mexican restaurant that was good. Lunch buffet and lunch at lobster house were good. I will also second that the breakfast buffet was great. Breakfast at the lobster house was good, but we only did it one morning since it took longer.

I can't recommend the spa enough. Wife and I did some kind of couples deal and we were there for 3 hours. I forgot what year it was by the time I came out.

Our room was on the other side of the resort as the main pool/beach. While the longer walk wasn't awesome at times, it was great sitting in our balcony and feeling like the only people in the place.

Make sure to get a private shuttle. Cost about $60 and worth it.

Can't wait to go back.

Stayed at excellence this past November and I would recommenced it. Just a few fyi’s. The shuttle from the airport took over an hour bc we had so many stops at other resorts. The beach is nice, but the water is not calm or crystal clear. Again, these are not knocks on it. Staff was nice, food was on par with other all inclusive we have been too. The Italian place has a damn good caprese salad and the pressed sandwich was good too. Wife had salmon and said it was very good.

How long is the check in process at the airport in PC. They want us to leave the resort at 3:30AM when our flight leaves at 7:30. I was thinking 5:00 should be ok. It is a 45 minute ride to the airport. Thanks.

Be prepared for a LONG and crazy ride from the airport but it’s totally worth it. The “Miami Vice” frozen drink was amazing!

Worst ride ever. Lot's of potholes and shitty roads. All I remember seeing is rundown shacks and goats everywhere.

But the resort was worth it.
