We are looking to go to DW the last week of September, first of October. What are the chances that the Gondola is open by then? We are hoping to stay at likely Carribean beach. WOuld just like easier access to Epcot. $500/ night for Beachclub and Boardwalk is not worth it to me.

Everything is saying "Fall of 2019" but apparently they are doing their first test runs this week of the Gondola. Is it really going to take 6 months of testing? Any insider information here? Is the Gondola going to be worth it?

Used to work for the mouse. Can confirm that tests often go a LOT longer than you would normally think. I'll ask to see if any former colleagues know one way or the other, but if they state Fall 2019, wouldn't expect it much earlier. It's rare for a timeline to move *up* at the parks.

Sorry, didn't mean that it would open in the summer. Simply that Fall 2019 is 3 MONTHS! I would think they could say Oct 2019 or Sept 2019 or November 2019. But a 90 day window for something already in testing?

I'm just trying to figure out if it will be done by the beginning of October? Which would be 30 days into fall?

ETA: And unless there is something in the works that hasn't been released, this is a very basic Gondola. They have been around for what 50 years? It doesn't go up high, fast, or anything else. Seems like the tech on this should be figured out pretty well?

Honestly...........if you do happen to catch it when it 1st opens..........expect some very long long long wait times.

I missed Toy Story land by 2 weeks and glad I did. With 4 hour wait times.

This will be no different.

I mean, yeah the wait times will be longer than they eventually will be because even people who don't need to use them for transportation will want to check them out. But I wouldn't expect them to be in line with a new ride wait time.

There are reports sections of it will open as early as April or May. It won't fully be open until the Riviera Resort opens in December.

Was there last week. Saw them running a couple gondolas and inquired if they were open. Was told only testing now and will probably test until October’ish

From the map I’ve seen this will be impossible. It looks like Riviera is between Epcot and Caribbean beach/ arts of animation. So it will be impossible for that sections to not be running and it be running from Epcot to Carib beach.

Word is they will initially only be available to the guests of resorts they service or guests with an ADR at one of those resorts.

I have to believe they will be running when Galaxy’s Edge opens

Saw them running tests this week and was told it would open in the fall. It has also been insuanted that unless you really love Star Wars stay far away from Disney in the fall because it will be a hot mess.

I'd avoid Disney world until 2021. Star wars will be hot all next year but at the same time a lot of rides will go down for 2022 and the 50th anniversary.

Have you tried renting points? Much cheaper than going directly through disney.

Yeah but I'm going with my FIL and I'm not sure if he is up for it. I've never done it, I don't have an issue doing it.

But if its true about Star Wars is opening now, I'm doubtful there will be points available?
