Disney after thanksgiving
We are planning a Disney World trip sometime between thanksgiving and Christmas. Is the week after thanksgiving pretty dead or should we expect holiday crowds?

Also I’ve got a ton of Hilton points to burn so we’re going to stay at the Waldorf or the Hilton right next to Disney Springs, any feedback on either of those properties would be much appreciated.

Right after thanksgiving will be the slowest time of the entire Christmas season. When I went, the first few days after it was almost completely empty. We did space mountain 5 times in a row with no wait. It’s gets more crowded, but the best time to go in Disney the entire year is right after thanksgiving IMO.

Same experience here. Black Friday was our travel day, Saturday had decent crowds, then it dropped off considerably as we moved into the next week. It's a great time to go, IMO.

The only thing we really had a long wait on was the Toy Story Arcade.

Thanks for the responses, this is our 3rd trip to Disney World but the 1st time not going during a peak time so I’m hoping for a more enjoyable experience.

We’re staying at the Waldorf the week before Mardi Gras so I’m also interested. I’ll posts my my thoughts after our stay. Mostly curious about the shuttle bus and any tips on getting to and from the parks.

The week after thanksgiving is supposed to be one of the slowest weeks of the year there.

The first week of December was the last time we went to Disney. It was very nice crowd wise and they already had the Christmas stuff up as well.

re: Disney after thanksgiving
We went December 11-15, and it was dead by comparison to the rest of the year. There are still people but not near as bad. From about 1-3 pm. The park is damn near empty. Everyone there that time of year has non school aged kids. We have a 3 years old and my parents came with us, so they all went nap together. My wife and I rode almost every ride in MK within 2 hours. Including riding Splash mountain 4 times in a row. We could've kept going but want to ride other rides.
I don't think I will ever go at a different time. Its decorated for Christmas and the weather was perfect.

Just got back from the Waldorf and it was super nice. We booked with points as well which came with 2 free continental breakfasts plus kids eat from the full breakfast buffet for free. Adults can upgrade for 15$. You can walk between the Hilton and Waldorf without stepping outside. The Hilton has a pretty impressive lazy river/pool/waterslide setup that can easily entertain kids for the evening. It was plenty warm enough for us to swim in feb. they also serve drinks poolside. We didn’t rent a car. We used the hotel bus and taxis as needed. The buses are really nice. Strollers can be stored underneath without even folding so you don’t have to lug them on and off the bus. The buses run from hotel to park/springs and you can take Disney buses between parks which aren’t as nice and do require carrying strollers on and off. My only minor complaint would be that the buses don’t run continuously. During the middle of the day there may be 2 hour breaks between pickups but it was always easy and cheap to get a taxi. Carry a bus schedule with you to try to plan. The buses are punctual. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Figure out the most likely exam schedule for students and go that week, they can't miss school.

Spent one day at magic kingdom the day after thanksgiving. Never ever ever again. Been many times and that day was miserable. The following week would be better though.

We stayed at the Hilton about 10 years ago. The only negatives were the busses and you didn’t get early entry to the parks. My understanding is you do get early entry now. What we did sometimes was take the bus between the parks and Disney Springs because they were much more regular. I’m not sure if that still happens so I would look into it.
Oh and we just went in December. I think 9-16. Crowd wasn’t bad

After dealing with Mardi Gras crowds we will only go the week after Thanksgiving or the first of May.
