For those of you who are unfamiliar, it's a hike-in lodge in North Georgia, just off the approach trail to the AT.
5 mile hike to get there.

Weather was nasty. Cold and rainy, and the fog never really lifted. It was a great experience, though. Can't wait to go back in better weather, and when I'm about 25 lbs lighter.

did you start at the base of the falls?

This is great lunch spot when we go. sit out front on the chairs, use their bathroom, etc...

What are they charging per night now? they have raised the rates quite significantly in the past year or two. Did you move on to Springer or just head back to amicalola?

Nope, started at the top of the falls, which is where I parked my car.

$139 per night, plus tax. Overall I don't consider this too horrible, since they feed you breakfast and dinner. On that note, the food was pretty decent and there was plenty of it.

I stayed two nights, and planned to hike to Springer on my interim day. I only made it halfway, however, because the weather was awful and I was having foot problems. Went back to the inn and drank some bourbon that I had smuggled in.

not the greatest view from the top. more of just take a picture in front of the plaque on the ground.

Although we usually dont hike this particular one too often, its a great hike. low time of the year and bad weather, but its usually crowded with slow folks who under estimate the hike. Storms two years ago made it awful with all the blow downs.

Glad you enjoyed. Fall is really hard to get rooms, but the best time of year to go.
