Looking for things to do up here. Had to come for work and will be here a while. Can anyone help me out with things to do up here on weekends?

Aside from the charms of Detroit, you're not that far from Ann Arbor. U of Michigan sports, plus the awesomeness that is the Zingerman's family of food businesses: deli, bakehouse, roadhouse, creamery, etc. LINK

But back to Detroit: it has its own pizza style, so you could spend some time checking out the local pies.

if you live in Watson then it shouldn't be hard to find new and interesting things to do. Seems like I see Detroit restaurants, shops and bars in various magazines all the time. Not to mention they have to offer some good museums and music venues. And baseball if that's your thing.

And if strip clubs are your thing ---- they have those in spades. Flight Club was one of the most talent filled establishments i have ever walked into.

The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village next door is highly recommended.

The Henry Ford Museum is one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. It houses Henry Ford and Edison’s private collections. It includes the chair Lincoln was assassinated in, Kennedy’s car he was assassinated in along with tons of machines and vehicles.

Downtown’s pretty lively in the summer. They have music concerts at the river walk and they have a park downtown where they fill it with sand for a beach vibe. They have volleyball and beach music. Greek Town is the party section of town.

The area with the sports venues have a lot of bars and restaurants too. Check out a game. There’s also casinos in Detroit.

Downtown is not very big and walkable. I felt safe the whole time I was there.

I went to Detroit recently and really enjoyed it. Start in Greektown. Lot of great walkable bars, restaurants, sports, and casinos.

ETA: OK went back and looked up some of the spots. Im in my late 20s, so keep that in mind. Cafe D'Mongo was where we started. Quirky hipster bar, but they make awesome drinks and had live music. We left before the normal crowd started to pack in. Punch Bowl Social was fun, but definitely a mid 20s to early 30s crowd. Heard bad luck bar was a good spot as well. If you're bored, hop over to Windsor Canada. Theres a casino right on the border. Detroit has casinos too, so it would more just be to say you went to Canada. Friends had a great time when they went, but ran into welcoming bachelorette parties, so their opinion could be (is) skewed. Chili cheese coneys are the local go-to for drunchies. Lafayette was my favorite, but if you hit a lot of the previously mentioned spots, it wont make much of a difference and I'd suggest going to the shorter line between Lafayette and American.

Thanks fellas, I'll definitely be checking out the Henry Ford museum then. I don't drink much away from home.

The Motown Studio Museum is also there. Haven’t been in it but I can’t imagine it takes very long because it’s a house.
