Belize is OK, but Costa Rica would be fabulous. There are lots of ziplines, hanging rope bridge tours, and eco tourism that kids would like a lot. I'd suggest the Monteverde and the Arenal/La Fortuna areas. You can see many different animals and birds that might interest kids. There is an animal rescue that kids love, Proyecto Asis. There are some nice beachy areas as well, such as Manuel Antonio with parks and wildlife as well.

I’d suggest CR over Belize if kids are involved.

Def Costa Rica. So much to do for the kids.
Belize is great - but more of a relax, fish, drink, dive, relax, drink kind of place.

Belize mainland is a hellhole unless you go all the way to the west coast. The Cayes are fantastic.

BTW. June is the rainy season in Belize. Not sure about Costa Rica but it rains a lot in Belize in June.

The Belize Caye’s are awesome but not much for kids to do.

Sorry. St Ignacio and that area. The western part of the country by Guatemala. You're right. There's no coast there. Poor language on my part.

Yeah, beaches are small and the water just offshore at Ambergris Caye has seaweed and rocks.

Also in CR, but it's not really awful... unless you're just wanting to plop down on the beach and sunbathe all day (which isn't really what a CR vacation is about, anyway).
I quite enjoyed the rain when we were there. Lounging in a hammock on the covered porch, surrounded by jungle with monkeys hanging out on the guardrails is a pretty surreal experience. Feel like you're in a movie.

Never been to Belize but I just got back from Costa Rica (Guanacaste / Las Catalinas), it was incredible.

Thanks guys. Looks like we are going to Costa Rica

How's Las Catalinas? It was just starting to develop while we were there a few years ago. It was kind of the "end of the line" for the Guanacasta area, but we went there and rented mountain bikes and rode the trails. Pretty fun stuff.

Four Seasons in CR is awesome for kids. Been 3 times. Great property with tons to do (huge). They will help with excursions for zip lining, natural spring water slides and horseback riding. Easy flight into the Liberia airport.
My kids are 14 and 12 now and they were begging to go back tonight.

I am laying in a hammock in front of my room in Costa Rica as I type this. I haven’t been to Belize but Costa Rica has been great.

I know many here are seasoned travelers but I am not. So I looked for some help planning the trip. These guys were great to work with and very responsive.
Pacific Trade Winds
We booked our trip through these guys. 7 nights. 4 in Tamarindo (beach town) and 3 nights in Arenal which is inland near the volcano.
They arranged the entire itinerary. We booked a full day sport fishing, horseback riding to La Fortunate Water fall, white water rafting, and zip lining.
All of the above with transportation, lodging, and excursions for $1200 each. Flight not included. Would have been immensely cheaper if we didn’t do the full day of sport fishing. We have been very happy so far.

It is coming along nicely. Multiple restaurants, nice beach club, 5* hotel at the top of the hill, occupancy is pretty high for the homes. They are actively building a few more. I love the concept behind it, very chill, relaxedm isolated, walkable "town" with all of the luxuries of a nice resort. My buddies dad is actually the guy that invested in it from the beginning. Our "house mom" was incredible... made us awesome breakfasts each day, fresh guac and pico constantly, fruit drinks. It will be hard for me to vacation again without her
