Cost for a family of 3 to ski in Steamboat for 5 days during mardi gras

Can anyone ballpark me on this?
Include airfare from New Orleans
5 day lift tickets
Equipment rentals
Ski n ski out lodging
Is there a benefit to going through a travel agent/service for this to maybe find deals?. I’m feeling more overwhelmed than I have ever before planning a trip.

$2600-$3000
Its been a while sibce i skied but I figure about $5000 as follows:
Air 400 x 3 = 1200
Ski in/out Lodging 400 x 5 = 2000
Ski rental = 300
Food 100 x 5 = 500
Car rental week = 600
Misc shopping& souvenirs = 500

You missed lift tickets and if he wants to ski 5 days he’ll have to stay 6 nights minimum

Yeah, it is gonna be more like $6-7K IMO

I priced it on Steamboats site (which is probably not the most affordable route to take) and it was $4600 not including airfare, food or transportation. Would I need to do a rental car if we didn't want to drive much when we got there? I thought there are shuttles to all the major resorts

The above two could be done with a combined $500. To each his own with the shopping part. That could be avoided altogether.

5 day lift Tix is gonna be $1200
Ski in/ski out lodging - $2000-$2500
Flight - $900
Equipment rental - $300-$400
Food/meals - $800??
Looking at at least $6k and I may have low balled the flight and lift tickets.

The Backpacker Steamboat Tours
This is the cheapest route, especially for beginners.

Lift tickets on the site were $950 for me and my wife. My son is free.

How old is your son? You are planning on skiing daily? Unless you are in ski shape that's not likely, you will probably want one if not 2 rest days.

Yes plan on at least having the option to ski daily. I will want to spend time with him on his first time on skis so won't be going hard all 5 days. Want to take it slow and enjoy time with family, not just up and down the mountain all day.

Have you skiied much before? Its your sons first time, you realize he won't be able to do much most likely right?
Have you looked into their ski schools? They are never cheap, but would recommend for sure. Professional instructions for your kid, baby sitter, and they are usually very enjoyable for the kids also.

Yes, I've skiied a bit and snowboarded more. I understand the challenges of a first time skier as well as him being a kid. I will do ski school for him and the wife, she wants to finally try snowboarding.

Add $150 a day per person in ski school

How old is the kid?
How nice do you want the accommodations to be?
Do you want to cook at home or eat out? If eating out, how many times per day?
Flying into Hayden or Denver?
Why Steamboat? There are better options in Colorado that will be cheaper, more convenient, and offer better variety of skiing.

Well I’m open to other ideas but I love night skiing and only them and Keystone have it as far as I know. But if I can knock a good chunk off this $6k estimate I will give up night skiing. I think snow tubing is a must for the kiddo. Feel free to make suggestions, thanks guys.
I don't need the ritz, but I do want something clean. I dont necessarily need granite counter tops and fancy shite. We could definitely eat in a few times, but also would like to have some dinners out. I guess flying into Denver.

I always recommend Copper Mountain. It’s a great mountain to ski. Within 30 minutes of Breckinridge, Keystone, and Vail if you’re looking for more things to do. Easy drive on I-70 from Denver, which you will be able to fly in and out of much cheaper than the regional airports. Lift tickets are usually a little less expensive than the others. They have a great tubing hill in the East Village, ice skating in Center Village.
Check VRBO for condos at Copper.
You can look at lift ticket prices on the Copper website, and check Southwest and Google flights for tickets. I think you can probably do Copper for 5 days with nice accommodations for 4k. I’ve priced out a trip for 5 during Christmas for 5 nights and it was under 7k.

What dates are you thinking about? I’ll see if I can put something together to give you a ballpark number. How old is the kid?

Any 5 full days from March 2nd to the 9th. So 2 days for travel and 5 days in between.
