Will be in Southern California for about 5 Days. Is it worth visiting Catalina?

Sure. It’s worth to go spend half a day there. Imo. You can take the ferry from a couple different places. I’ve taken it from Newport but have heard that the one from long beach is quicker.

To be honest its a fun trip. But not worth more than a day. If you go, take the ferry out of Long Beach to Avalon. If you snorkel/dive make sure you drop down off the stairs behind the casino (big domed building), the best aquatic life is right around there and there is a large drop off as well.

I'd recommend anyone who visits to go on their birthday instead of a random day, since many activities (including the ferry to the island) are half off for birthdays.

I think its worth a day trip. To me, it feels like a different country. We rented a golf cart and drove around Avalon. We did the submarine tour and a few other things then headed back.
