Caribbean Honeymoon Recs—St. Lucia

We are looking into honeymoon options in the Caribbean for January 2021. We’ve pretty much settled on St. Lucia because we like the combination of topography, beaches, and water. Hoping for an all inclusive around $1,000 per night, but would be open to something that isn’t all inclusive if we could keep daily expenses in this range.
We’ve done some preliminary research on several resorts and are hoping for some personal experience. We’re upper 20s and generally active people—but we want to slow things down for our honeymoon. Night life of some sort would be a plus. Any recs?
Update:
Thanks all for the help. We were pretty set on going to Sugar Beach, but we also decided that we really wanted to explore the island some. I couldn't justify spending $800 or more a night to stay at a resort and just to spend the better part of several days away from the resort exploring. We think we remedied this dilemma by splitting the trip up into two segments.
We're going to stay at Sugar Beach for the last 5 nights of our trip in early January. The place looks amazing, and we decided that if we were going to St. Lucia we want to be there. Lucky for us, after Covid hit they started running a 30% off on cottages, so we've reserved a cottage on the hillside. Really excited to check this place out.
To allow for some time (and budget) to explore, we're going to stay at a pretty cheap airbnb (although with nice reviews and in a safe area) right next to Marigot Bay Resort for NYE through the next five nights. The airbnb has full access to all of the amenities that the resort offers including pools, restaurants, bars, and excursions. We're planning on using Marigot Bay as a hub to take water taxis to a few different beaches and other excursions. All recommendations on things to do and places to go by water taxi are appreciated. The resort also has a pretty nice looking pool, and there's a small beach across the bay, so we'll be able to enjoy some beach/pool time without leaving the area for at least a few days.

Just went to St Lucia for honeymoon in December. We stayed at Sandals Halcyon. Had a great time. Would highly recommend it.
Halcyon is kind of a quiet low key place. If you want more of a party scene go to Sandals Grande.
Also, there are tons of English people. Very few Americans did we run into. My recommendation is to a do a day long Julians Boat Tour. It was the high light of our trip.

We went about 6 years ago - it’s a wonderful place. We did an AirBnB and had a driver bring us to a local store for supplies, we’re not big all-inclusive people. But I do get the appeal.
Rainforest Cafe for dinner one night should be on your list. Also, find a scuba diver that will take you out, catch a lobster, and grill it on the beach.

St. Lucia is beautiful but I have to be honest. At $1000 a night you have a TON of great options in the Caribbean.

Joe Knows boat tour. You won't be disappointed.

Sugar Beach is on the beach below Ladera and I would HIGHLY recommend it. Not a bustling resort by any means but one of the best we have stayed at

Agree w this - stayed at Sugar Beach twice and was supposed to go on Saturday to celebrate our 5yr anniversary. By far one of the best resorts we’ve stayed at. Easy transport to other resorts if you want to explore and eat off site some times.

We split time between over water bungalows at Sandals Grand and beach bungalow at the Viceroy Resort right in between the 2 Pitons. Best vacation ever but costly! Beautiful island!!

I booked Sandals Grand for our 10 year anniversary in March 2021. However, I’ve been looking at Halcyon and Regency and both of them seem like they offer much better rooms. The rooms at the Grand look a little outdated compared to the other two and they’re cheaper. We decided on the Grand because it had the best reviews of the three. I’m looking for other opinions from people that have gone before. Is the Grand that much better than the other two? How do the beaches compare at the three of them?

The grand is better than Halcyon. The halcyon is small and has more of an older crowd. The grand is where we went on our honeymoon and it is greats we’ve been going to all inclusive every year since and we still have the grand at the top of our list

I believe we've narrowed it down to Regency or the Grand. We've already got reservations at the Grand. From what I can tell we can get a Butler Suite with a private pool at the Regency for about the same as we could get an Ocenview(Not Oceanfront) at the Grand. One thing I'm still interested in finding out about are the beaches. I read where the Regency has really rough water where the Grand has calm water. If this is true is it rough to the point where it beats you down? Also, if we decided to go with the Butler Suite I'd like to know how good the service is. Any advice on these two resorts are greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about sandals la toc when you say regency? Also if you don’t feel like you need to be waited on every minute of the day, I wouldn’t pay the price for the Butler. It just depends on if want to pay for basic tasks to be done by a butler or not

Yes we’re talking about la toc. I could do without the butler service but, my wife thought that would be nice if it’s included. I want a view of the beach and ocean and she would rather the private pool so we’re trying to figure it out. I will say the butler service room with the private pool is a much nicer looking room than the oceanview room that we have booked at the grande with a similar price point. However, we’re reading that the water at la toc is really rough. I don’t want to get beat to death but, I can handle some waves.

The beach at the grand is great. It’s picture perfect so if your beach people choose the grand. You can go to any of the three sandals resorts on the island. They have a shuttle every hour or so. We found the restaurants at la toc better so we ate there two or three times. I’m going to be honest, I understand it’s your honeymoon so it may be worth to splurge some but your basically only in your room to sleep and other “ activities”. You will use the private pool once and probably think ok that was cool and never use it again.

That’s what I was thinking. I’m hoping the Oceanview Penthouse room has a good view. I believe we’ve decided on the Grand but, now she is looking at the swim up pool rooms. I’m trying to get her to understand we can go to a pool anywhere but, you don’t get an Oceanview in paradise very often.

Stay at the Grand. Do the Joe Knows boat tour and the tree top canopy zip line. Amazing views.

Sugar Beach/Viceroy is very nice.
Also, if you want to enjoy a wonderful, home-cooked lunch while you're out and about on the island: Martha's Tables.
