Cancun to New Orleans - flying on July 3rd - need advice

Looking at southwest and they only have 2 flights going from cancan to msy on July 3rd. I called southwest to see if they would be adding more flights. She was no help. If you look at July 2nd and July 4th, there are a good amount of flights. Should I wait in hopes that will add more flights or go with United for $239 one way?

Southwest sets their routes and dates and times and doesn't adjust based on demand or lack thereof. On the rare occasion they do make adjustments, the phone rep would not be privy to these plans.

I flew the exact same weekend in 2016 from MSY to CUN. I waited until about 6 weeks before to book and that ended up being the cheapest they ever got. I paid about 390$ for a round trip.
I flew united there and delta on the way back. I checked google flights and southwest weekly for about 6 months. So my advice would be to keep holding off until you get into the 2 month range.
