Looking to take the wife to the Biltmore for our anniversary and wanted to see if anyone has been and what there is to do there.
Any help would be appreciated.

Look at the Grove Park Inn as well.

Biltmore for our anniversary
I went a loooooooong time ago, but I can't imagine much has changed since 2003. We were going from Winston-Salem to Boone for a couple of concerts, so we drove to Asheville that morning and spent most of the day there before driving on to Boone. We did one of the behind the scenes tours, toured the winery, etc. I can see it being a fun getaway for a couple of days, but I wouldn't want to spend much more than a weekend there. Would be an ideal spot for the anniversary trip though.

Do the full tour and get the headsets where you can listen. That place is amazing and it’s unreal how they lived in that time. You can stay on the property if you want. If you have Marriott points the Grand Bohemian is right outside the gates and is really nice. Expensive as balls if you have to pay. Enjoy the trip. I’ll be there the 21st-23rd.
ETA: plenty to do on property and in Asheville. Bring your mask. They don’t frick around.

We did the roof top tour and that was worth it. It cost extra but you go on to upper floors, with a guide, that otherwise is off limits. The guide talks about the construction and the architecture of it. You go out on a balcony on the top floor and go in the attic.

View from the balcony on the front of the house looking toward the carriage house. And a view of the front lawn from the balcony.
It is a large property that you can drive around to the winery and an area with shops.
The Grove Park Inn is an upscale resort with a long history. It has several restaurants. I think there is a golf course. It's expensive. It is on the north side of Asheville about 4 miles from the entrance to Biltmore. Before Covid they welcomed people coming to see the place, not sure about now.
There are many posts about Asheville and the Biltmore house on this site. You can use the search function or google to find some.
Depending on how long you plan to be in the area, and your interest, there are many places to see within a few hours of Asheville. Biltmore house and grounds takes a day at the most, for me anyway.

Stay on-site if you enjoy wine, biking, hiking, sporting clays, etc. It's more expensive, but worth it in my opinion. Go to their website and you will see what activities are offered. I went over Thanksgiving and enjoyed an interactive Van Gogh exhibit on the property.

Random as hell. I was looking into the Biltmore last night.
I went when I was a teenager so years ago and was looking to go back. It was expensive then and now it's more of course. I think $69-99.
They are doing an immersive Van Gogh experience on site until March 30th. I haven't done that, though it comes to NOLA in May.
The grounds are amazing. You get access to quite a few tours. The Butlers tour was the best in my opinion. A whole town's worth of people had to support that house.
There is one room with like 12 fireplaces is bigger than a gym.
There was a winery that I would be more interested in now.
It's by far the most amazing property in the US. Most other mega mansions like this were torn down or made into resorts. This is the last great monument to 19th century wealth. The detail everywhere is just amazing.
I was blown away and years later I've wanted to go back.
Side note. Stop at the McDonald's nearby. It's 100% worth it.
It's the fanciest McDonald's you'll ever see. Had table service iirc

Just went the weekend before Christmas. Pretty tight on mask policy as earlier mentioned. Downtown area is ok, try Tupelo Honey restaurant. Good food, nice beer selection. Try to book the behind the scene tour of Biltmore. Pretty neat. If you stay on site, Make your reservations to the restaurant. Breweries galore in the area. (Can’t believe I’m helping a Bama fan, ha ha ha) but it was an amazing place you and your wife will enjoy

Also, the wine tasting is ok but here’s a tip. Majority of their wine can be found in grocery stores for cheaper price. Ha ha ha

Also, don’t know when your anniversary is, but spring time the grounds will be gorgeous and the conservatory will be full with beautiful flowers as well. If that’s something y’all enjoy. Just a thought

I prefer the Grove Park. The main lobby/great hall with it’s huge fireplaces and bar along with the view from the back terrace can’t be beat. It’s classic Asheville. What month are you going?
Watch the video on this page. They still allow and encourage visitors so if you’re not staying there you can still stop in for a happy hour Asheville beer flight or cocktails in the great hall or terrace.

Went July of 2021. I’d stay on property at the hotel in the village. There is a “nicer/more expensive” hotel up the hill, but the village hotel is convenient to all the amenities there. Winery, tastings, restaurant, shopping etc…. Loved staying on property there. You can spend 2 full days exploring Biltmore and the grounds and driving around the property. If you can get a mountain bike or like to run, lots of good trails on property. Walk the gardens at the house too. Take as many tours as you can. Rooftop tour is great.

My wife and I went in 2019 and did a falconry class at the Biltmore. Can't recommend enough if it's still offered

You wouldn't recognize Asheville if the last time you had been was 2013.

I was looking at that a while back, could you give some details on it? The description on their site is pretty vague about what it is, what's included, how long, etc.
