Planning a trip for next summer for my extended family
It includes:
8 adults and 6 children ages 4-14(one infant too but they will be along for the ride)
We have kicked around Cape cod house, house in Leavenworth, Big Cedar lodge
Looking for somewhere not traditional beach related we can have a nice trip. Family Alpha will be laying for accommodations/travel and would like to keep that around 20k

Well I can’t speak to it yet since it will be new to us but we are doing a 10day trip in June to coastal Maine/ cape cod. Been planning it out for a few weeks now and seems to be a beautiful and interesting part of the country. Flights right now are very cheap from Nola to Boston for next summer. Just something to think about.
We did Pacific Northwest last summer and it was a fantastic trip. Spent a few days exploring Olympic national park , mt rainier, and the north cascades. We finished the trip up with a few days on orcas island off the coast. (Part of San Juan islands ). Did some hiking , sea kayaking, whale watching , and white water rafting. It was a great time. If you have any questions related to this trip as far as stays or places of interest feel free to shoot me an email and I can go into greater detail. Jkylejohnson@gmail.com

You had kids with your group? And have kids going to the Cape this summer?

See if you can find a place on Conway Lake or Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Cool weather, water is a good temp, plenty of outdoor activities. Some of my favorite summers.

Massive houseboat on a lake in the Arkansas or Missouri.

Lake District of Wisconsin. Everyone can fly easily into Chicago or Minneapolis. Get a house on a lake in the eagle river area or stay at a resort that can provide all the lake toys you need.
Kids of that age need water to stay entertained and the lakes in Wisconsin/Michigan/Minnesota in the summer are just awesome.

YMCA of the Rockies - Estes Park. Rent two large cabins. We've done this many times with a slightly larger but similar group, though it was getting harder to find openings the last time we did it a decade ago.

We rented a house for a week on Lake Glenville which is near Cashiers, NC. It was 13 w/ a similar make up as your group.
The house was ~ $8k in 2018 I think, 5 or 6 br.
We rented a pontoon boat one day and pulled the kids behind it on a tube. Lot of places to hike if that interest you. Some kayaked one day & others sit on the dock and drank wine most of the time.
Took the kids to ride the GSMRR one day and went to Asheville & the Sierra Nevada brewery another. There’s plenty to do.
