Looks like I am headed to Tokyo later this year on business. Best airline? I'd be flying from IAH or DFW.

Along those lines, is China Air Lines any good?

IAH

United/ANA. I've flown that several times and never had an issue.

I have only flown them for a couple domestic flights in China, but I will be avoid them in the future, if possible.

Looks like American uses the 777 on their NRT route from DFW, that's a 3 4 3 configuration and a tight fit economy (would not recommend). United is using a 777 that's in a 3 3 3 configuration so that'd be much better as long as you get decent united flight attendants. ANA airlines uses a 77W so that's 3 4 3 but their service will be pretty good

Japan Airlines does DFW-NRT on a 787 that's only 8 across in coach 2-4-2. Most other airlines are 9 across in coach on the 787s.

Plus if you have an AA frequent flyer account you can earn miles through that on JAL.

They're okay. But Air China, the one who flys out of IAH, sucks.

I’ve done Delta via Detroit to Nagoya. No complaints.
