Flying out from Manchester to Berlin on 01/11 returning 01/19 from Berlin to Manchester (I live in the UK). Is this enough time to do all 3 cities? Or should I drop one of Leipzig or Dresden? I feel like this is enough time to enjoy all 3 cities, but some people on this board might say otherwise and I'm open to suggestions. Thanks for any responses

You can do all three, or you could do all the time in Berlin and be entertained- depending on your interest. The Leipzig Zoo has Europe’s only pangolin. It’s pretty cool. The other attractions, for me, were mostly communism related. Leipzig can be an overnight or day trip from Berlin.
I found Dresden a bit underwhelming- a night or two will do if you’re a serious sightseer (the military museum was pretty cool).

Not sure there is much to do in Leipzig, it is not a pretty German city.

If you’re into Communist history and/or zoos it’s great. Museum en der Reunder Ecke is only in German, but a nice walk around. I think there’s another museum but it was closed when I was there. There’s a nice independent music scene. The church where the anti-communists met to organize is a nice visit. I’d make it a day trip or overnight (if you’re into the music scene). Be prepared- it’s the only German city i’ve Been to where English isn’t widely spoken. The Westin is a good place to stay- 5 min from train station, walkable to everything, nice pool area.

Yeah, I'm really into German history (especially the eastern part in regards to communism) so that's why Leipzig and Dresden interest me. I plan to spend the bulk of the trip in Berlin, but I really wanted to pop by Leipzig and Dresden since they are rather close and they aren't super overwhelming cities as far as size goes.

i lived in leipzig for a german summer program, and we did a long weekend trip that included berlin and dresden.
in berlin we hit the museuminsel, the reichstag and brandenburg gate. the memorial to the murdered jews was still under construction. checkpoint charlie was super touristy. the topography of terror was good, and we also hit ka de we (i was desperate to make some tacos, and they had an old el paso taco kit for 8 euros that i made that weekend).
in dresden i remember the frauenkirche, the opera house and the royal palace. and strolling along the elbe.
in leipzig we were in school all day for 5 days a week. and spent most of our free time at kebab stands or at the bayerischer bahnhoff brewery. they brew a local beer called a leipziger gose that i remember being really good. there were a lot of museums and churches associated with bach and his music. one of the churches (nikolaikirche) is where protests against the DDR began in leipzig (if you're interested in the history of communism in germany). the zoo, old town, and botanical garden were all cool. and i hit the voelkerschaltdenkmal, just because i study early 19th century german history, memory, and memorials.

A really nice well-preserved German town in former East Germany is Wernigerode. It has a beautiful castle, timber-framed town square, charming markets, etc. It's an easy drive from Berlin.

This is the way to do it. only a 2 1/2 train ride from Berlin to Dresden. Dresden is honestly good for a day or two. 2 hour train ride from Dresden to Prague. you will want to spend most of your time in either Berlin or Prague
