Going on a bachelor party in Austin during St Paddy’s day weekend. Where are the places to hit that weekend? Staying just outside of downtown.

Never been to Austin for St. Patrick's, but I can't imagine places to go changes a whole lot. E and W 6th Street + Rainey have to be pretty wild.

There is no legitimate Irish Pub in Austin, because the Irish never were very big there.

That being said, your best bet is Dirty 6th and West 6th. BD Reilly’s on 6th always has Irish things to do

Darcy’s Donkey opened up just a bit ago, and it’s an Irish dudes place, so I imagine they will do something.

There used to be two good Irish bars downtown right next to each other. The Ginger Man and Fado's.

Ginger Man moved all the way out to Bee Cave and Fado's closed.

I can't think of any "Irish" place. The only pubs would be Crown and Anchor by campus or maybe Baker Street Pub. Maybe Draught House.

Eta: BD's is an Irish pub but I've never been there.

I’ve been looking at Jack and Gingers. They should be having a block party. Also Fados shutdown last year.

It is a big shite show because it also falls during sxsw. So you have people everywhere in downtown. Roads closed off.

It’s a mess. I would avoid it. Everywhere is going to be overcrowded

Might actually be one of those things where it's better just to hit the St. Patrick's block party at Rock Rose in the Domain.

Otherwise, total cluster frick.

We passed some bar on 6th Street that was already decked out with St. Paddy’s gear. Must have had 50+ lit up shamrocks with green lights everywhere. Don’t remember the name but it’s near the LSU bar on 6th

If Skyrocket is playing, go see them. They are the best 80’s cover band on the planet.

I don't know if there's any LSU bar on 6th. There is Shiner Saloon on Congress and 5th. Also, there is Lavaca St. Bar on 4th and Lavaca but it is the bar for about 8 other schools.

Then there is Shoal Creek Saloon, with the giant Saints helmet in the roof. It's the best LSU bar IMO.
