I am looking at trying to go to the Army/Navy game this year, and was wondering if anyone had ever gone and if they had any tips for acquiring tickets.

I looked at both the Academy's website and found that tickets go on sale through Navy's website to the general public April 23rd; but would I be better suited going through 3rd party sites such as stubhub. I also did not see anything in regards to prices.

I have also never been to Philadelphia, and would probably end up making a 4-5 day vacation out of the trip, but can anyone speak to the influx in people that the game would cause a city of Philadelphia's size, or would it be business as usual.

Thanks!

Can't help you with the ticket question, but as far as influx of people, Philly is able to handle it. Think of how many eagles, phillies, flyers, and sixers games they have and you never hear of any major issues. It's easy to take the subway from center city to the Linc and back after the game.

4 to 5 days only in Philly honestly sounds like a bit too long (coming from someone who grew up outside of philly). There's the art museum, comcast center, ben franklin museum, a lot of historical places like the liberty bell and independence hall, pats/genos, reading terminal. Maybe the eagles will have a home game that weekend? Still only think you need 2-3 days to see everything in the city, now if you wanted to venture outside to the jersey shore, camden aquarium, or atlantic city for example I could see 4-5 days.

Thanks for the reply, I assumed that Philly could handle the influx in people, but wanted to make sure. I am still in the infancy stage of planning this trip, but was looking at going to either New York or DC for a couple of days before taking a train to Philly depending on what my timeframe looks like.

I went a few years ago when it was in Baltimore and it was fricking awesome. Definitely a must see if you are a college football fan. Atmosphere the whole weekend is great. Work has prevented me from going back each year but my buddy who graduated from the Naval Academy goes every year. I will send him a link so he can give you some tips.

I am a Navy alumn and have gone to 9 Army-Navy games. 5 while at NAPS and USNA and the last 4 years.

The last 4 I have gone with some TigerDroppings people (Redneck on year one).

For tickets eBay and the 3rd party tickets sites are pretty good maybe some up charge from people trying to recoup some of their donation back. I have always bought the max allotment for my donation/class year and sold the remainder on eBay.

Philly can handle the influx of people, but hotels get expensive because there still is a considerable influx.

I've been a handful of times over the years when it's been in Philly. I agree with Cuse, you don't need 4-5 days in Philly. Remember, it's going to be cold when that game is played. Thursday do the historic sites in the city. You can knock out bell, hall, ross, franklin's house, mint, treasury, & allen poe in a day and walking. Friday take your pick of art museums in town, constitution center, or go out of town near by to a place your choice. Get some sleep on Friday night because Saturday is a long day. I would go the 3rd party route on tix and make it easy. Last year was the most buzz I've seen for the game because Army was solid and you could still get tix for a reasonable price. Get to the game when the stadium opens b/c a lot goes on before the game on the field.
