Will be staying there for a wedding. I understand it is a non all-inclusive resort. I was wondering how everything works there exactly with food and transportation if anyone has any info on it and if they just brought there own food from off the resort.
TIA

requesting you post a detailed report as I am thinking about booking a vacation in March or April of next year

Motorboat recently just got back from Exuma but stayed in a house.

You eat at the restaurant(s) at the resort?

Or, you venture off property and eat local restaurants?

If you haven't been there then why throw your sarcastic comment in. Better left unsaid. For people that have been there, they know there is only 1 restaurant on site and they also have a grocery service there. Wasn't exactly sure how that worked and how the restaurant itself was.

I have been researching houses on VRBO.. you would be surprised at how much you can learn by reading the reviews at all the different houses from one end to the other.

i found this map as well with every business and restaurant location

google earth map with legend

heard Santanna's Restaurant is a must according to some of the reviews... roads are terrible and rent a car

We have been looking at google earth lately and noticed some pretty cool spots around the resort. We have learned as well (and you may know) that everything on the island is about 25-50% more than what we pay back here. Understandable given everything has to be flown in there.

But we found a liquor store 1/2 mile down the road from the resort that apparently has a really good selection and reasonable prices.

Thanks for the map. Should definitely help!

I just spent a week at Grand Isle Resort two weeks ago. We really enjoyed the resort, the staff was excellent. The new GM's name is Lester Scott, he went above and beyond for anything we needed.

As far as food and beverages, you have two options really. Go to Exuma market in Georgetown which is a 15 minute drive and you can basically get anything you need. Prices are what you would expect on the island, probably 30-40% higher than normal. The villas have full kitchens that you can cook whatever you would like.

The food and drinks at the resort are good but pricey. If you are staying for only a few days you should be fine. My wife and I averaged probably $100 for lunch and $150 for dinner that included 2-4 drinks. The free breakfast buffet was good enough for us.

I highly recommend a rental car for transportation. We rented a Rav 4 for $125 per day for half the trip. The one day we used a taxi, we probably spent the same amount.

Not sure how long you are going for, but you want to leave the resort to see everything else on the island. The beach at the resort is great, but has nothing on Coco Plum beach at low tide, Forbes beach, and Tropic of Cancer. Also take a water taxi over to Chat N Chill, you can spend half the day there no problem. Best food we ate on the island was a beach bar called Tropic breeze which is near Tropic of Cancer, about a 45 minute drive south into Little Exuma. Near there, they have Santanas and Mama's Bakery.

If you can, take a full day trip by boat. Swimming with the pigs was cool, as was Nicholas Cage's Island that is home to tons of iguanas, but the sharks at Compass Cay was our favorite. You see the private islands of David Copperfield, Faith Hill and Tim Mcgraw, and a couple oil guys. On the way back you stop at sand bars at low tide that are incredible. We used "Sugars Adventures" and would recommend.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

We drove through Grand Isle. It was a typical resort. I did not see the rooms to know if there is a kitchen, but I do not see anyone enforcing you bringing in your own food. It's a pretty laid back island.

As far as transportation, I'm sure they will pick you up from the airport and bring you to the resort, but if it were me, I'd rent a car and get away from the resort.

Make sure you drive down to Little Exuma to Santana's and Tropic Breeze. also, hit chat n chill and Big D's. We got wasted and did karaoke somewhere. That was fun for nightlife.

Looking to rent a house for spring break next year. What part of the island is best? I'm guessing around the beaches that were mentioned - Tropic of Cancer, Forbes beach, etc.

any advice would be appreciated as there are houses available throughout the island and don't know ideally where we should stay.

The villas are really nice condo/townhouse style rooms. We had a 1 bed 1 bath. All the rooms have full kitchens with appliances, dishes, etc. We didn't cook once the entire week though. I am not sure how the delivery service they offer would work, if you want your own groceries etc its worth the trip. I used a soft yeti ice chest as a carry on and it worked great. On those day trips to Little Exuma there isn't much around so packing waters and drinks is a must.

I’m not posting my house because I want to keep it to myself. Lol

There is a beach near Tropic of Cancer with a few houses for rent. It’s a bit far out of town but I like that.

Book this one!

Also, where can you find Kalik beer locally?

You're 100% right.

The generic way you worded your request was too easy, though.
