Angola Rodeo/Natchez
Considering spending a Saturday in Natchez at the sports book. Any experience? Stay at the casino (a Best Western?!?) or something local?

Then drive down for the Rodeo on Sunday. Never been. I think I have to go at some point.

Only downside that I see is the 6 hour drive from Angola to Bham after the Rodeo. Would be tough but probably worth it to wake up in my own bed on Monday morning.

Rodeo traffic is going to add another hour or two to the trip; only one long road back to 61 from the prison. Rodeo is definitely an experience worth seeing though.

I would stay at either the Grand Hotel, the Guest House Mansion, or a B&B (possibly Stone House).

For stuff to do in Natchez on a Saturday you could:

Tour the old houses (my favorites are Longwood, Rosalie, and Stanton Hall)

Antique shop on Franklin/Main Streets

Take a carriage tour of the downtown

Drink at any number of local bars/the brewery depending on your style

Natchez has a little something for everyone, but it’s generally a bit sleepy and laid back outside of major festival weekends.

Decent hotel with a good bar and restaurant, but you pretty much need a car to get from there to the casino or downtown restaurants. There is only one small cab service in town. No sign of Uber or Lyft when there a few weeks ago.

The Magnolia Bluffs casino hotel is more walkable, but still a fair distance away. They may offer a shuttle though.

The Grand Hotel is right in the center of the action. Easy walk to almost all bars, restaurants, and the casino.

Go to the Donut Shop and get Delta tamales. Be ready to stand in line. It’s a popular spot in the morning.
