Allegiant Air creating base at Destin/Ft. Walton Beach airport

Is Destin growing that much in popularity? I know a lot folks go annually, but many people drive and live within 5-6 hours. Do you feel this option is viable for long-term success, or just be a flash-in-the-pan?

Destin is that popular, unfortunately. Evrytime I've been in the last decade or so, I meet some chicks from Ohio, Texas, or Missouri. When I was a kid, there were about 4 condos there, and no yankees or mid-southerners.

Its also centrally located to Panama city, pensacola, orange beach, and even Mobile potentially. I never understood why southwest went to Panama City ( I know because of incentives).
But no one from Pensacola is gonna drive 2 hours to Panama City for Southwest but I do think people will drive 45-60 minutes from pensacola and panama city to use Allegiant for a direct flight.
While allegiant isn't the best, I'd still rather a direct flight then having to go through Atl or DFW. Saves a lot of time too.
