Go to see Memphis, Giza and the Egyptian museum. You are pretty much done with Egypt after that.
Recommend that you book passage to Istanbul and southern Europe for further sight seeing. 12 months is a very long time in Egypt.

Egypt has really gone down hill. I went in 2008, and then went last year. I was shocked. I suggest staying safe while there, and booking passage to Europe. Also Morocco and Turkey.

Yes, it's a dump. Almost as bad as Malaysia(lived there 2 years). We have security so hopefully we will be ok. I plan to fly family out to

My dad was stationed at a base in the middle of the desert back in 1992.
Looked pretty interesting back then with the Red Sea, Luxor, etc.
Talk about perfect timing being in 2nd grade and learning about the Egyptians.
