Never flown them. After the Soviet era came to an end they were crashing about once a month for a period. Around 8500, (yes 8,500) people have died flying Aeroflot, historically. More than any carrier by thousands.
More recently they have implemented Boeing and Airbus planes into their fleet and have improved their safety record drastically. They are safe, if flying direct from the U.S. to Russia, but I wouldn't want to continue on from there. There's a chance you might be flying on Russian made metal and the weather conditions can be treacherous at Russian airports, countryside.

Now they are a good airline with good cabin service. All their long haul flights are operated with Boeing or Aibus aircraft.
I have flown on the latest Russian jet, the Sukhoi SJ100, and felt very safe.
Aeroflot has retired or given most of their soviet built widebody fleet to Cubana. I would not fly Cubana for any reason, but Aeroflot is perfectly fine.
