Wireless router speed questions

Ok so I recently got Cox internet installed at 150mbps. I purchased a Motorola surfboard 6190 and we use an apple time capsule as our router.
The 2ghz channel is getting me anywhere from 20-60mbps whereas my 5ghz channel is getting me anywhere from 90-180mbps.
1) is this normal?
2) if I upgrade my router will my 2ghz and 5ghz channels be faster?
And yea, Cox says everything is good on my line.

2.4 should reach further throughout your house, but speeds will be reduced when compared to 5.
5 should get you closer to wired speed connection, however range is not as good as 2.4.

Agreed and that's exactly what's happening. I just thought the 2.4ghz speeds would be faster. Kinda surprised mine are maxing out at roughly 50mbps. Low end 25, high end 70 or so mbps.
So it seems like that's normal for the 2.4ghz channels? So basically my Apple Time Capsule router is just fine and I shouldn't upgrade?

Probably not worth an upgrade. The speed difference may not be even noticeable and it probably more dependent upon the fluctuation that Cox internet users receive when bandwidth is limited.

how hard is it to set a non cox purchases modem and router?
I think i have a surfboard that is a few years old and it has to be turned off daily and will slow to a crawl.

I'm not sure what is all involved with Cox.
The company that I use for high speed internet does not require a modem.
Just take a look at how you are currently wired and use same wiring for new modem. You may have to call into Cox to give them identification number of modem so that it can be used on their system.

I guess my main question is what kind of speeds should I be getting on my 2.4ghz channels? So when I do speed tests on that channel with a 150mbps (megabits per second) with Cox I usually only get about 30mbps. This seems ridiculously slow.
Jump over to the 5ghz channel and I'm rocking like 185mbps but that 5ghz channel is extremely limited to just the back section of my house.
ETA: I have a Sonos Playbar, Connect:AMP, 2x Play:1s and 1 Play 5 in my house. Wondering if it'd be better if I put all of those on the Sonos Bridge vs. using normal wireless (guess it's 2.4ghz channel it's using)?

Call and give them the MAC address on the new modem. Takes a couple minutes.

What kind of device are you using? Speed also depends on what wireless standard is used.

My Modem is the Motorola Surfboard 9130 (or something). It's the 32 channel one that's higher end/newer.
My router is an Apple Time Capsule from like 2014 or so. Probably not the latest but not ancient. It supports 802.11ac and such.
ETA: I'm doing speed tests from my iPhone about 20 ft away and no walls blocking too. It's an iphone 6s that also uses 802.11ac
