Just bought a wireless range extender for my house to take out a few dead spots. Product works well when connected, but i find that if i leave the house and come back or dont use the devices connected to it for a period of time, my devices will no longer connect to the extender. (devices connected are iphone and macbook)

When this happens, I go through the process of resetting the extender and having to setup the device on the network several times throughout the day. Any idea what the problem may be?

My current solution that I am trying is I went to my router that the device is connected to and changed the channel that it was on from "auto" to a permanent channel, thinking that if the router changed channels, maybe the extender couldnt catch on? I'll admit i was just grasping at straws with that "solution"...any one have any insight on what it may be if this doesnt work?

Have you tried moving it a little close to your router? I know they typically need 80% signal strength to work. FWIW, I've had mixed results using pair of the same model repeaters in different setups. Mine at home works like a champ, had one we used for a mobile meeting room that did the same thing as yours. That one, I think, had the problem of whenever it lost power, nothing would reconnect to it when it came back up.

i will try that next if this current solution doesnt solve the problem---whats annoying is that even when it wont connect, the extender has full strength in my networks

I am having the same issue and it still does not connect. I need to see what D-link says.

There's a difference in the connections strengths, make sure you're looking at the right one. There's the connection that the repeater spits out, and there's the incoming connection to the repeater. It would be better to have a higher inbound signal strength to the repeater, and a lower strength once the repeater's signal gets to your devices. That may not even be the issue, but it's the first thing to check for.
