Internet is still coming through modem and main router, and while extenders show green, I am getting "internet may be unvailable." I have "reset" a few times, but the problem keeps happening.

Any suggestions on a more permanent fix?

TIA

because wifi extenders suck. if you have to use satellite units - get a damn mesh system.
the day of wifi extenders and repeaters is over

Or just use 2 Wi-Fi routers on separate sub-networks.

Yeah, I just tried giving an extender a try this weekend. I have a 3 story home, and the router is on the 3rd floor because that is the only place it works. Our Ring and August lock, obviously, have had trouble connecting to the router. I had the same issues with the extender I put on the 2nd floor. I will likely be returning. I'll have to look into the suggestions in this thread.

Are there any quick solutions for less than $100? I figured for $25 it was worth it to try the extender.

You get what you pay for.

Option 1 is always run a wire to a WAP. Thats not necessarily feasible, especially in existing construction.

Option 2 would be try out a power-line extender. They work by using your electrical wiring to create an internal network. When they work, they are awesome. But they don't necessarily work in every house. Trial and error.

Option 3 is replace your existing router with a whole home mesh setup. Several vendors to choose from (i personally like ubiquiti). Your setup isn't ideal, you would really want the router/base unit on the 2nd floor and the satellites on the 1st and 3rd, but it will still work fine (just slower speeds on the 2nd hop).
