I have 2 Honeywell Zwave YH8320ZW Thermostats and bought a Samsung Hub v3 so I could adjust them when away from home. We downloaded the Samsung Smartthings app and hooked up the Hub to wifi, but when we tried to connect the thermostats, both of them say "Lost Connection" and will not connect to hub. They just seem like they are trying to find the hub to connect to, but they both cycle out and freeze up and never connect. They crash when changing rf10 to 1 or 0 as per the instructions to get them to connect.

Bought this house from someone and it's possible the thermostats were hooked up to his system before I bought it. I remember seeing Lost Connection error on the thermostats before I even tried to connect to my hub, although the thermostats work still as "dumb" units not connected to any hub.

It's like the thermostats won't reset or forget any previous connection and look for my new hub to connect to? Very frustrating - waited on hold over an hour for Honeywell and then got put on hold again once tech finally answered, so I gave up on that. Any troubleshooting recommendations / ideas to get them to connect?

zwave is a strange animal.

you wont be able to pair these with a new hub without first excluding them from any prior connections. were these used perhaps? are you pairing as zwave or wifi?

the process is pretty simple; there should be a 'zwave exclusion mode' option in the hub. click that button.

next, go to the thermostat and hit the 'reset/forget network' option (not sure where it is but usually its the same as the 'include/setup')

once you've done this, just go back to the hub and hit 'pair new zwave device' and put the thermostat in pairing mode and it should work just fine.

tl;dr you have an additional step to first exclude any previously paired zwave device (even if you've reset it) before you can add it to a new hub.

thanks CAD - trying to pair as Zwave; my son was helping and he said he never tried to "exclude", but when he attempted to forget a network without excluding, that's when we were getting the crash on the stat

I had one at my old house that was installed by previous owner via ADT. That piece of shite was locked to their system. The model number was a special ADT serial. Without their bridge, I could not use it. I threw them away.

Are you using an IPhone app to try to connect them? I struggled with my Honeywell and the app kept giving me an error. Finally just went to the WiFi setting on my iPhone, connected to the thermostats network, paired to my new WiFi router, and it worked.

Have no idea about zwave though.
