Anyone have one?

Not a Pro. I really don't need a Pro and can't justify the expense for something I won't use enough.

I am interested in the Standard Model but I was wondering if it was slow running full windows.

I wouldn't be doing any multitasking but I don't want to buy a slow arse tablet if the processor can't handle windows 10.

Plenty of angry reviews on the Surface 3 being a mess after the Windows 10 update so I wanted to see if anyone here had one.

I'm sure none of you OT Ballers roll with anything less then the I-7 or Ipad Pro but I thought I would check just in case.

I'm not buying til I hear about the 4 but I wanted to get some comments on the 3 now.

I have the Pro and love it, know someone with a the nonpro (amateur?) 3 who doesn't seem to have any problems but he hasn't migrated to windows 10 yet.

I've a SP3 running windows 10. love it and don't have any issues

make sure you get a case to protect it and a microsoft service plan for it. my screen cracked after dropping it out of my lap. my touch screen is now turned off until I can pay to fix it.

I have the surface pro 3. I5 256gb. Works great and feels great. I haven't updated to 10 yet. I wish it had two USB ports though

I'd hold off until their event in October. October 6th, I think. They're supposed to be announcing the new SP4's and this should drive down the price of current models.

Also, you may find that you want to buy the Surface 4 (non pro, if they make it).

Yeah, I planned to wait for the price drop or 4. Just wanted to hear about experiences with the 3.

Sorry I can't exactly answer your question but I have the Surface Pro 2 and really like it. I know others on here have posted good things about the SP3.

You have to look at the Surface 3 as you would the specs of any other laptop. Atom processor + 2 or 4gb of RAM. It's tablet specs running a full OS. Not necessarily a bad thing, as long as your expectations are in line with what Microsoft is selling you. A $180 HP stream will be on par with the Surface 3, but with the Surface you're paying for portability, much better screen, and added tablet functionality. Those extra features won't change the inherent limitations of the hardware. You try to do too much, and something will slow you down.

I'd consider the Surface 3 to be a solidly specced tablet that has the ability to run desktop applications as needed. The Pro and Non-Pro fit two distinct markets pretty well -- the Pro being for people who want mid to high-end laptop performance in portable form, and the non-pro being for people who want a tablet that can run the smattering of desktop apps they occasionally need to use.

I've dealt with similarly specced laptops running Windows 7 and 8.1, but not 10. I imagine that any issues with Windows 10 on the Surface 3 probably affect the SP3 as well, and it may be something that's already been fixed.

Which is why I was asking if anyone was using one. I'm not going to be hammering it with lots of tasks or games but I just wanted to make sure it was running without any hitches doing average tasks.

The Surface Pro 3 being $649 (i3, 4GB) makes it hard to justify the non-pro's baseline price of $500 (Atom, 2GB), whether you absolutely need the extra computing power or not.

I have the Surface 3 and have really enjoyed it. However, I bought it back in Jun before they started slashing pro 3 prices aggressively. 649.00for a pro 3 entry specs is a smoking deal.

I got one for my daughter less than a month ago to start school and it was a little over $900 with the keyboard and tax. That was even with the 10% or whatever student discount from Microsoft.

Not sure if we just got a Lemon, but she's going to end up having to swap it already. It did something weird the other day where the screen wouldn't rotate, she couldn't open any programs, and she couldn't save a bunch of work that she had done in excel. We took it to the Microsoft store, and they couldn't do anything with it either and they ended up just restarting. It fixed it but she lost all of her work. Now the power button shuts the unit down just from tapping the power button instead of just putting the screen to sleep.

They're not bad, I bought a few for work. The biggest problem I've come across is that 128GB SD cards are flaky in this thing. You can mount a card and it will randomly dismount (not physically). Seems to be a very common issue with no clear solution. I think it affects the Pro models, too.
