I was looking at the Leviton Decora switches for a few spots in my house. Would those be the best ones to use with Siri?

you can also get a raspberry pi running homebridge and get access to a lot more things through homekit.

I like WeMo for quick plugs and outlets. I'm really liking the direction Apple is taking HomeKit. It's taken them a really long time but with Shortcuts and HomeKit, they're catching up quickly.

The HomePods just must come down in price to like 150$ permanently.

Do you need a HomePod or can I just get the light switches and use Siri on the iDevices for voice control?

However, if you want to control them from outside your home network, you must have an Apple TV 4th Gen or 4k on your home network.

Correct. So as an example, I have like 3 apple tv 4ks at home and because of those, I can control my lights and dimmers through my phone at work. It's overkill but those can act as hubs. So can ipads that remain at home on the home network and even the HomePods. But not all are required obviously, just need 1 to act as the hub IF you even care to control your lights and switches and stuff remotely.

What HomeKit has gotten much better about is automation. Can set lights/switches to turn on/off at certain times or when certain people leave/enter the house, etc.

I originally bought the homepod because of compatibility with Apple Music. I still use it and the sound is great, but I wish they had a cheaper Amazon echo style puck that I could connect to my stereo from whole home audio.

Is there anything specific you need?
Simple on/off?
Do you have a neutral wire?
Do you want fan control?

I really want to get some HomePods but even when they come down to the 199$ sale price, I'm only tempted to get 1. I've read and watched youtube videos that the HomePods have the best voice detection even hearing people across their house even when music is blaring. I'm all for that.

It takes the convenience out of things when you're 10 feet away from the Google Mini puck and having to say "Hey Google, turn off the living room" 3 times cause my kids are fussing and the TV is on.

Anyways, I'd really love 3-4 HomePods but don't feel like dropping 800$ on smart devices when I've already blanketed my home with Google.

I have a few Apple TV 4ks so I’m good there.

If you do not have a HomeKit can you still set timers for the lights.

Lights on, off, dim and fan control is what I’d like. I don’t know yet if I have a neutral wire but it’s newer construction so I’m guessing it should. Some switch’s are 3 pole (2 switch’s for 1 light)
