Saving Ring doorbell video to a local HD...

anyone have experience doing this? Anyone have recommendations for a similar doorbell that can do it easily?
My mom and gamgam want to use the service for our family home in a fairly rural area that doesn't have consistent internet service. I think the whole thing is a waste since there are windows that can be broken without bothering with the doors. Regardless, anyone have recommendations for a similar (or same) service as Ring that can be used in a place that doesn't have consistent internet access?

AFAIK you can't do it, which I'm kind of pissed about. But the cloud storage is pretty cheap, so it's not too bad.
Overall we've been happy with Ring, especially for the price of the devices and service. There are some things I wish it did better or differently, but I don't have experience with anything else for comparison.

I saw this but not sure how easy it is to access the footage etc. Also it looks like the storage capacity isn't that much.
Ubiquiti has a wireless video doorbell in it's Early Access store but will be hard to get until it goes general release.
The doorbell just like their cameras support RTSP so it can be saved locally to any compatible NVR. I'm planning to get one to replace my Ring Video doorbell Pro.

quote:First of I've heard of this, and being a Ubiquiti fanboy I will look into switching once they are available. I also just learned about their mFi mPort line, which looks like you can build out most of a security system (door and motion sensors). They're just missing an actual alarm.

I think I'm kind of spoiled by the way Ring works. Alexa notifies on motion and doorbell presses, sets the alarm with voice, Echo Show shows me who's at the door. I don't think I will swap it out piecemeal, it will have to be all or nothing, I think.

Only way you can do it with Ring is if you share it to social media and rip it from there.

If I had some spare stuff I'd definitely let it go, but I tend to find uses for stuff that I buy.

My neighbor just got three of their cameras, the G3 Flex. He has one set up currently to look out on their backyard, and is going to set the other two up to monitor driveway and frontyard. He's got a little NVR set up, as well as their switch and some access points. He's the one that told me about their APs and I have one set up now. It can be addicting. We already have a Ring doorbell and one of the indoor video monitors, but I may switch over when they have their doorbell ready.
