Good Morning Everyone.

We are currently getting butt raped by Directv and just recently decided to shite-can them after they wouldn't remove a charge that my 6 month old child decided to incur while playing with the remote... I know, parental controls...

The wife likes all the trash that plays on MTV, and Sling looks to be the only one (except maybe PS Vue, but I don't have a PS, i guess that's a requirement???) that offers MTV.

Any drawbacks to Sling that i should know about?

I appreciate any info.

I have no idea if it's better now, but we had sling about a year ago. We absolutely hated their user interface, and we had constant buffering issues (on a 50mbps+ connection very close to the router).

We switched to U-Verse last year and haven't looked back.

It is not, Sony is just awful at marketing. You can use PS Vue with a Roku, FireTV, AppleTV, Chromecast, etc.

I have Sling. It works well enough for us, but we don't watch much TV, honestly. I mostly just need it for football. I don't have any buffering issues. A lot of people dislike the UI, but it's fine once you get used to it. There's a fullscreen channel guide like a cable box, and there's a bottom bar channel changer that scrolls horizontally while the current channel is still in view. Both need work, but they're functional. If you pick a channel and just watch, you won't have any trouble. If you like to channel surf, maybe look into something else.

One drawback is the channels on the Orange package are limited to 1 stream.

Also, some see this as a negative, and some see it as a positive, but Sling doesn't offer locals to stream. Instead, you buy a device called AirTV, which costs about $80 (one time), hook it up to an antenna, and it puts your locals in the channel guide in the SlingTV interface, for free. Believe it or not, but your local stations add a LOT to the prices of the other streaming services, and a lot of times they get blacked out during contract disputes. You avoid all of that by using an antenna.

No problem with Sling but I mostly use it for Redzone. Those bastards a smart with their packages too. They lump NFL with the PAC12 and all those other chicken shite conferences in one package and the SEC, ESPN, etc in another one.

No problems with Sling at all with 150 mb/s Cox internet. We pay the extra $20 for all of their extra packages (Sports, Entertainment, comedy, news, kids etc...) instead of cherry picking a few packages for $5 each, this $20 also includes DVR

I like their guide other than it not having channel numbers to jump to a channel you want to watch. You either have to scroll through the guide or search it.

The severity of tone in these "I'm going to pick a streaming service" is hilarious.

Literally every one of them has a free trial and none of them have contracts. You don't even have to call in to cancel.

Trying them all (for free) and see which jives with your taste.

Sling is an annoyance. If I watched TV more than I do, it would have been gone a long time ago.

Randomly goes to black screen for seconds at a time (buffering I think, on a connection that's plenty fast), and sometimes just exits to an options screen.
