So, my original Pixel just crapped out on me, and I need a new phone. I'm probably not as knowledgeable about phone tech as many of you, but it sure seems like spending $1000+ on a phone isn't necessary in 2019, as there seem to be a lot of quality Android devices at much cheaper prices. I've researched a lot phones, ranging in price from less than $200 (Xiaomi Mi A2) to the Google Pixel 3 at $799 (wish my phone would have died a couple of weeks ago during the sale).

I think I've decided to go with the OnePlus 6 or 6T. I would prefer to get one of their new offerings that should release in May or June, but I can't be without a phone for 1-2 months. My question is whether or not OnePlus discounts older phones when the newer version is released, or weeks/months BEFORE to get rid of inventory? I only ask because I saw that there was a price drop in China and India in the last few days, but I'm not sure if we'll see that with retailers here in the U.S.

I feel weird making this thread, because I wouldn't have thought twice about buying a new $1000 phone every year or two just 5-10 years ago. Now that so many of these phones work so well, I just can't bring myself to keep paying for the latest and greatest.

ETA- Thanks for the help, fellas!

Mine bootlooped about 2 months ago, went to UbreakIfix and Google paid 100% for the new motherboard. (Authorized Google fixing store)

I googled a ton about this. Apparently they were only paying for it if there was something wrong with the speakers and microphone when making a call. There was some known issue about that. I made sure to mention this when they made the claim in the store. They were not paying for it otherwise. I made sure they did though.

When I make a call people can't hear me, and I can't hear them. When I try it often causes repeated crashing. It even does it in safe mode, so I know it isn't an app causing the problem.

Sound like I might need to make that call, eh?

Yea dude, go get it replaced for free! That's exactly what I read to tell them at the store. Hopefully you have a UbreakIfix store by you. A new motherboard replacement is $350. Mine is running better than it ever has.

I'm actually surprised nobody else on here has reported any bootloops with as many Pixel users are on here.

There is one about 20 minutes from my present location. Looks like I'll be on the phone with Google tomorrow. Thanks for the help, amigo!

I just walked in the store and dropped the phone off. They handled the rest with Google. See if they can overnight it or it'll take about 3 days

Have you checked out the Asus Zenfone 5Z? The 5Z is a superior phone and can be found unlocked on eBay for a great price brand new.

The biggest issue with the OnePlus phones is that they use propiertary quick charge technology that no other platform uses (Dash Charging).
