I have it. But I'm new to shield so I can't compare it to the old one.
Overall I like the remote. It does what I ask. Not a huge fan of the triangle design but that's just nitpicking.

I like it, but my only complaint is it can’t turn my TCL 5 series on and off. It can adjust the volume though. Am I doing something wrong?

It didn't work great turning off the TV of my knockoff brand either. I finally got it working by messing around a bit. It still messes up from time to time though.
It has no problems with my LG in the living room though.

Its okay, have both flat one that gets lost and new triangle one. I personally like a usb mini keyboard better.

Ok so I figured out I had to go into the TCL settings screen and enable CEC for the HDMI input. Now I can turn the TV off, but the shield remote still can’t turn it back on. Gotta figure that out next.
This all works seamlessly with my FireTv btw

Figured it out. Needed to enable “1 touch” on the TV’s CEC settings so that any buttons pushed on the remote will wake the Shield and turn on the TV.

The new remote is worth it just for the volume buttons.
