Help me setup my a/v, automation, etc.
I'm thinking about using irule to control everything. Anyone have experience? I don't necessarily have a budget, but Control4 and that stuff will deff be too much. I've looked at Harmony Hub, roomie, irule. I would like to have the infrastructure in place to upgrade things one day though. Pretty tech savy with most things, some of this gets confusing though.
Wiring:
-plan to run cat-6 throughout - 2 to every tv, maybe additional to entry wall switch areas, Access Points, etc
-coax to every tv (potential for 7)
-5.1 (at least) surround sound in living
-seperate speakers for kitchen, patio, master bed, master bath (different zones)
-all home run to central wiring closet behind main living tv
would like to have distributed video, 8x8 hdmi matrix will work.
would like to have distributed audio (ive seen some audio matrix switchers with amps built in)
The audio stuff is where I don't have much experience. In wall/vs in ceiling?, in wall/ceiling sub woofer?, volume control knobs for the other zones?
I want everything in that wiring closet rack. Cable boxes, blu-ray, radio/xm, etc.
Also have a few other devices like Nest, plan on getting the wifi garage door openers, maybe some lighting control down the road, etc. Construction should begin next week.
Thanks for the help guys.

i had Control4 and the new Hamrmony Elite hub is just as good as far as A/V goes. the new remote has IR as well if your tv can not be controled via IP.
I would get the elite just as our A/V controls and use something else for home automation.

Not sure of many control DIY products out there with distributed audio and video that's worth a damn.

I'd do in wall for your fronts where you will have video. In ceiling works fine for stereo zones or fill/height speakers for your surround. I would do volume controls, hard keypads, or dedicated iPad/tablet in wall in those additional zones. In wall or in ceiling subs are awesome but expensive. The subs are normally roughed in before the walls are closed and require dedicated amps. Def tech and Polk make really good ones.
