Wife really needs a new phone. Current Moto X Pure is going on 2 years old and has evolved into a piece of dog shite. She picked it out because the bamboo version looked pretty. Probably not the best way to pick out a phone. She's not what I would call a power used. NetFlix, Facebook, web browsing, and Simpsons Tapped Out is about all she uses it for besides the normal phone type things. Biggest complaint is battery life. Best in class battery life has me looking at the Moto Z Play. Only thing that makes me hesitant is that it's a phone from 2016 that already has a replacement. Doesn't look like the new version is T-mo compatible as it' a Verizon exclusive right now. "Newest version" of Android isn't that big of a deal for her so that isn't much of a problem with an older phone but the lack of security updates for her Moto X Pure is pretty startling. When I check it last night it says the security update is from Dec 2016

Anything else I should be looking that has great battery life? Contemplating the OnePlus 5 for her which for *me* would be a better phone but my wife would rather have more battery than a faster/sleeker phone.

I was hesitant to go from a Nexus 5X to the Play, but I gotta say, I love this phone. I often forget I need to charge it-that's how long I go between charges.

The new Z play is unlocked for all 4 major carriers. The verizon one is just $400, where the unlocked one is $500. The unlocked version comes with 64GB storage and 4GB ram compared to verizon of 32GB and 3GB ram.

I have the new Z2 force on sprint. Have had it for about a month now. I'm loving the phone. I like that moto keeps it almost stock android. Reviewers have complained about the 2700 mAh battery of the force (smaller than the play), but it usually lasts me all day. If it doesn't the turbo charger has it back up in 15 mins to about 50%.

I too have the z Force and it's the best phone I've had.

My last 3 phones have been Motorola and I won't be switching anytime soon

I have a Pure X with the bamboo back and its a great phone. I have no trouble with battery life....but I shut down background apps and keep the screen brightness low unless I am outside in the sun. Motorola has finally release the kernel code for 7.0 to developers so the update should be coming soon.

I think I'm going to buy a Motorola when I'm done with this phone. Maybe sometime next year

I went with the G5 plus for the wife. 64gb/4gb in rose gold. Same 625 SoC as the Z play. Everything I've read on Reddit/XDA shows people getting 6-8+ hours of screen on time. A little smaller and less bulk than the Z play. Released earlier this year. I think it will be a nice upgrade for her X Pure.

i got a like-new one on swappa a few months ago for $200 shipped and it's flawless. best phone i've ever had by far.

cheap low-profile OMOTON case and Sparin tempered glass (total for both $15 shipped) + a SanDisk 128 gig micro SD.

I'm even considering splurging on the projector and speaker mods.
