Lorex security camera Ethernet pin order

So I ran cat 5e all over my house during construction including runs for security cameras. I bought a lorex camera kit and it comes with its own Ethernet cables. Well I already have mine ran so I don’t need to lorex ones. Problem is they apparently are jackasses and use different colored wires in their cables and won’t tell you which colors in theirs correspond to standard cat 5e cables. Anyone decoded this before? I found some stuff online but I’ve seen conflicting info.

Best thing to do is use a multimeter and ohm it out.

apparently the have to be in a certain order for the cameras to work.

Check the link I posted it has the pinouts, I don't understand why a normal cable wouldn't work either though.

that's what I found as well. There are multiple "fixes" in there. I was curious if anyone had encountered this before I start making patch cable and trying all the options.

Are they terminated into a plug or are the wires loose?

The cables that came with it are terminated into a plug but the 8 wire colors are not standard colors. They are red, black, purple, etc.

Have you put in a request through the support portal? I’ve had good experiences with support.

The color of the wire doesn't really matter as long as they are "pinned out" correctly on both sides. Any way you can post a pic of the 2 cable ends or say what the order of the colors are on both plugs?

I'll see what I can post when I get home.
ok - thats what I thought but that message board link posted above is what confused me. I guess maybe they were trying to extend a Lorex cable? Then you would need to know the corresponding order.

Have we tried seeing if it'll work anyways?

of course not. I've only taken one of the cables out of the box so far.

Assuming you used the standard wiring conventions regarding the pin configuration and the twisted pairs (colors are irrelevant other than the fact that they indicate pairs) for a straight through cable, I would get a cheap tester form Home Depot or the like and check the Lorex cables. They may be crossover cables, if so, an adapter is all you will need.
If you are using patch cables to get from the NVR to the wall, you could get crossover patch cables. If you have a terminated plug where the cameras are, you may be able to use the lorex cables coiled up near the camera as a patch. Just a thought, though length may come into play there. Also, if you are using patch cables, insure they are not just 4 wire patches (pins 1, 2, 7, 8), they do exist in cheaper patch cables.
