I am looking to buy a couple new hard drives. One internal and the other external. I have been out of the hardware game for a minute, so I am wondering what everyone is out there using. I want to get something 4TB and above. What are you guys using? What do you like? What have you heard is good?

I bought my first SSD hard drive about 2 years ago. It was a 1tb one for about $225. I couldnt understand why SSD drives were so much more money than the regular hard drives on the market. Well now i get it. Not one issue in 2 years. Knock on wood. So much more reliable/quieter/faster . Would highly recommend you go the SSD route. i mean unless you need a huge hard drive.

Right, I am not that much out of the know. I have SSD's for my OS hard drive. I am getting this for storage. Pictures, movies, tv shows etc. That's why i stated something 4TB and above.

literally 4 threads down. the 8TB BB branded WD drives are the best bang for the buck.

eta the drive is off sale right now again.

I make that mistake sometimes. I started out with a 20 MB hard drive and 8 KB RAM, so give us a break.

you mean 8MB RAM? Sounds like an old Mac SE or SE/30 since I don't think you could go beyond 4MB RAM in an SE.

No, I meant 8 KB. I was extra careful to get it right in a message where I explained I sometimes get it wrong. The crazy ranges we're talking here sometimes just blur together.

Oh, I could have mentioned that the 8 KB RAM preceded the 20 MB hard drive by 5 years or so. I didn't mean to imply they came together, which I can see would be confusing.
